| Post subject: Cotton's |
I had it on good authority that Cotton's had lost their lease and closed the doors at the current location on December 31st. Then I saw a sign that they were going to be open on January 21st (this Friday), after renovations were complete. It looks as though they are expanding into the building next door but I haven't gotten back around there to see ...
Does anyone know if this is true???
Please say yes! And please let them still have the fireplace!!! |

as far as i was aware the owners of cottons lost their lease but the site would still be used for a bar and would re-open sometime in the future.
usualy story; guys opens bar, bar becomes success, lease ends, landlord f*cks him over, bar closes, landlords mate re-opens bar, bar is shite |

yes. They opened the bar, started doing well in the summer with their garden, landlord took it back, landlords friend opens new bar (was going to be called Cottons!!!! now called Shanes). They took it back on the pretence of opening a school (since it is owned by education department), so they opened an English language school right next door (about 3ft x 6ft in size).
Boycott it. Landlords should not be able to do this and get away with it.
Believe they are opening elsewhere but not sure where. In the meantime, check out my place or Pete's places. |

They're owned by the company I work for. Pete & I were talking about it a few nights ago at the Beaver. It'll probably turn into a joke, but as for boycotting it, you may be cutting into my profit-sharing. |

Just walked past Shane's. It appears to have gone out of business as it is being torn apart. How sad. |

Shanes has been sold. The Ex manager of Zapattas turning it into a grill. Could be a good place for that sort of thing. |

So the question is, does the bad karma continue at that location or will it get better now that its no longer a cotton's copy bar? hmmm.... |

I've got faith in Lance... plus it's pretty hard to beat Shane's record of least popular bar in Shanghai... |

I heard a rumour that Cotton's may have to close again because of complaints from a neighbour. Anyone else heard anything? I hope this is not true. |

Apparently it was the Embassy (Polish? Hungarian?) that complained. Let's hope they can reach an amicable agreement. |
