We've started to play satellite TV channels(more than 20 channels, e.g. ESPN) with big screen on the 1st floor.
Let's enjoy watching olympic game!

Post subject: I will come to FreeSoul tonight and write a report tomorrow

Learn to make a good Martini. They are awful here in Shanghai. Buy some quality olives.
I am coming because I know one of you friendly staff Sky. She bit me in another bar Shocked and strangled and German for ordering a water.
I have liked her ever since.
Very Happy
Well I will write a report of what I think of your place and of any bruises that occure while I am there.

Well been there done that. I went to FreeSoul and had a great time. The bar is your typical dive bar but the friendly Staff and Sky is always enterntaining. When you first walk in you see the brightly colored walls the bar and friendly staff. Also a smattering or regulars like the drunken Swiss guy and cute big eyed girlfriend and the guy from Dakota sitting in his underwear. Just sit a few bar stools away and keep you eyes above the bar and you'll be ok.
Everyone is friendly enough and they poor a good drink. Sky is enterntaining as always giving you a hard time if you get out of line. She also has tattoos that she is proud to show off but you have to wait till after midnight to see her new one on her ass. Mind you asian asses are't big like the American or European asses but she did what she could with what she has. Maybe a diet of Pizza Hut and McD's will fatten it up for and extension. Well like I said you have to wait till after midnight to see it but like standing in Time Square in New York to see the ball drop it is work staying for.
Ok I will update again after my next visit

Free Soul if you computerize your music it would be much nicer to request songs. Right now the music is a hog pog of CD's in binders. Various locals bring in their Ipods and hook them up to your sound system and they can do music requests better then someone digging through 5 binders of CD's.
For the cost of a computer you could download thoughsands of songs and set up play lists and it would free up a lot of space of having hundreds of CD's laying around the bar.
Ok just my two cents.

You really know how to enjoy FreeSoul Very Happy

Also, we appreciate your advice regarding the music staff.
We've been considering to introduce "ipod DJ mixer (iDJ)" for our customers to enjoy playing music more.

Well I have been to Free Soul a few more times and it looks like it is gaining a few more locals. The bar staff is great and will flag you done a taxi and get you off to you home when you have had a few to many to drink. There are also lots of places to order food from close by and the friendly staff will help you out with that also.
Well I am flying off for now but next time I am in Shanghai I will come back to Freesoul to visit my good friend Sky.

Sitting around listening to half arsed attempts by Chinese bar girls to 'entertain' the customers, and the highlight of the evening is when some skank drops her pants to show off her tattoos. Sounds thrilling. Heading over immediately. Better shine my shoes first though. I wouldn't want to disappoint Sky.

By the way the Tatoo on the ass was a joke. I was in there when one customer came in and asked to see it. LOL

Is it just because I'm drunk right now or is this guy's writing style hilarious? Old and stale thread, but this is one of the funniest posts I've read in a long time. You still around ChasingRichard? Keep posting...

Yes I am still around and I am coming back to town in April. I will come back to Free Soul if it has my favorite feisty barmaid/manager/pain in my ass Sky. Last time I was in town it looks like she was putting on some weight to make room for another tatoo on her nicely round bottom. If you want a martini bring your own olives. The ones in the bar are typical for chinese bars about the size of a monkeys testical and tastes about the same if he were really sick and they turned green and ended up in an olive jar in China. I pack some in my luggage everytime I come out now.
If you ask Sky to see her tatoo on her ass I will buy you a drink when I come down in April

Free Soul has moved to where Means used to be. The main difference from the old location is size and food. Decoration-wise, it retains the same red walls but in smaller premises, which are so much cosier. Food sees a big expansion with the bar trying to establish itself as a lunch venue with sets of both Western and Asian food (¥18-38, available up to 5pm). Having Tiger and San Miguel on tap ¥30 (large,) bottles ranging from ¥20-40, and spirits in the vicinity of ¥40, this new location certainly offers a good value. The glass-heavy bathroom, however, doesn't really fit in–and there's a working shower(?). With a happy hour from 5-8pm and a ¥100 all you can drink deal on Tuesdays, this friendly local bar is already getting the punters in.

Freesoul is a great, no-frills, el cheapo and friendly bar. I just wish there were other bars closer to it so it could be more easily included in pub crawls. On the other hand, to hang out here drinking cheap booze all night long may appeal to those who don't mind hunkering down in one place for a night's drinking. If you haven't been to Freesoul, it's worth checking out.
