Post subject: Some consultation needed on my visa situation

Hi!

Came to Shanghai in February, signed up for 2 semesters of studying at Fudan uni, entered on a X visa. (They give you those if you plan to study for more then 1 semester...). I have however now decided not to study there the 2nd semester but to live and work in Shanghai instead.

I just left China and I'm right now in Sweden planning to get a new visa. I had quite a nightmare with my X visa, because i was a moron i never fixed residency permit etc when i first got here, so i overstayed the visa a few months. That costed me 5000 in fines and a lot of paperwork etc, but i did get it.

What i have now in my passport is the following:

1. The sticker taking up a full page saying "Chinese Visa", this is my X visa and the duration of stay is 000 days, entries 01. Got this in Sweden before leaving, using forms and invitation from Fudan

2. A stamp with the date i entered China, got it at airport.

3. The stamp with the date i left, got it at airport.

4. A Residency permit, no stamps or marks on it, valid until september.

So, what can i do with this? Is it all gone and invalid since i left China? Could i just re-apply for a Visa here in Sweden, enter China all fresh and just have my new employer do the magic? Or do i have to "unsubscribe" my student status, have my residency permit cancelled first etc or what?

You should be able to apply at the Chinese cousulate for a new visa and all the old stuff will become invalid.
