| Post subject: Sarcopitc Mites and Mange on my new Kitten-Need help ADVICE! |
According to: http://www.thepetcenter.com/exa/mites.html
It seems what my new kitten has: Sarcoptic Mites.
Actually, I'm really upset about this because my boyfriend just bought me a kitten yesterday from an apparent professional "breeder" of cats. Anyways, we picked a 3 month old kitten (scottish short hair fold? Male) and took it home last night. Since I've never had a cat before, we took it to get washed and nails clipped, etc. We also didnt' know where to go since none of our friends have cats, so we looked online and found this chinese place on Wu song road. Anyhow, it kind of freaked me out because of the rough treatment of my kitty but I figured... well.. next time I'll wash him. But then the person who washed the cat came out and told us it had a skin disease, which FREAKED ME OUT!! WTF?!
So convenietly, there was a vet hospital next door and we took it there and the vet said our kitten has a pretty serious disease of Sarcoptic Mites. I have no idea what that is, but she said humans can get infected too. She gave my kitten a shot, and then rubbed this blue medicine all over it and told us to keep it from licking or scratching itself.
So now it's home and we fed it some whiskas or whatever and it's happily eating, but I'm still really upset.
1) Sarcoptic Mites apparently and be contagious to humans, and if I get "contaminated" then what do I do??
2) Has anyone with any experience in this taken their kitty to a vet and then is it natural for them to get a shot and some kind of blue medicine??
3) How long does it take to heal on the pet, and if so, human?
4) How can I find a nice reputable vet hospital and also a nice clean place to get my kitten/cat washed and taken care of? I'm sick of being lied to because I dont' have experience in this, and I dont want my pet to be traumatized.
5) I REALLY want my kitten to LIVE.... please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Hey, thanks guys. But you know, that one story (http://www.thepetcenter.com/exa/dem.html) freaked me out! The woman got demodex from her dog and it's forever scarred her face! OMG!! Does this happen normally?? It says rare, right? |

This mite is flesheating this is why the scarring appears, not because of the medicine!
This is why it's important to start treatment as soon as possible. |
