three years ago i knew of a place that had them. now it's gone and i'm back. how to fill the void? prefer ones that come in little steamer baskets on a bed of cabbage leaves but i'll take what i can get.

Lots of places do them off and on the streets. If you see a pile of steamers then you can be pretty sure they have them. Ask for 'cai bao'. They are the steams buns filled with chopped veggies.

are we talking about the steamed bun or jiaozi?? There was one home cooking kind behind xiangyang market, when I went back it was gone... they served nice varieties.

My friend took me to one somewhere, like Dong Bei Ren Jia, unfortunately they used pork fat that I felt so sick afterwards... Sad They did admit it when I asked at the end.... Sad

Many chinese eating places and Chinese restaurants do serve vegetarian steam buns or dumplings. Or convenience stores like Lawson. Just look for "Su Cai Bao 素菜包" or " Su Zheng Ziao 素蒸饺".
