| Post subject: RMB>$ again !!!! |
Hi,
Not sure if this is best place but can try anyway.
Basically had some money in UK bank and was using ATM card but managed to lose this somehow so got some of the money from the UK account wired out here.
Now, however, i have sorted finances out here and wish can send some of the excess money back to UK - but its in RMB and cant be changed it seems as i cant find the bloomin' form from the Agricultural Bank and dont have tax docs etc to claim it was work-related, so im stuck with it for now. I know once it's converted into USD or other then wiring back is no problem ... but, as you all know, theres the problem.
Whats is advisable to do now ? I could ask Chinese friend to convert it for me as seems it is easier for them to do (esp for smaller amounts) and some have approved visas for going overseas to study which may make it easier for them. Otherwise, it seems trekking to HK with a wad of cash in my pocket (have done before but not a nice feeling - and anyway would need to convert RMB>HKD>USD) or the black market (last resort).
Any suggestions what to do will be greatly appreciated ?\
Thanks in advance |

money changers are at most Bank of China lobbies of in front. They often have accounts with RMB and Foriegn $ already and just do a deposit of your funds and transfer the other currency into your account. Thats how I'd handle it if i were you.
Good luck. |

Ben,
I have UK bank account and can transfer sterling to your account in UK if the amount is not too much. You can pay me in RMB here at an agreed rate. I think having RMB is more advantageous than other currencies since RMB is on the rise. |
