Estimated Cost is a bit under 500rmb per person. Hotel cost and transport costs included. Food and otherstuffs extra...
We plan to depart Shanghai early Saturday morning from a (yet to be determined) pick up point, and return Sunday evening.
UPDATED Confirmation list:
Me, Snoopy, Wesley, Shanghaikid, Jenming, Dyniquee, TX2Sh, Anne, Izanami, Paranoid, Smurfette, AngelaChen
Maybe's include: slowbiker(+1), lawdude, henrychinaski, hola and a few others mentioned some interest but...???
May go with smaller shuttle if less than 16 people. will somewhat reduce cost.
We will be doing Double Occupancy rooms so it will be 2 persons per room to keep costs at a minimum. Should someone require a solo room, the full cost of the room will be charged AND it may increase overall cost by a little bit if we end up leaving an odd person out. Our estimated cost will include housing the driver overnight as well. |

2.Recreation
The newly launched hang zhou xin tian di is impressive. A very good atmosphere for relaxing. Unlike the one in Shanghai, it seemed that nobody tended to wear masks and show off in hang zhou xin tian di.
And Nan Shan Road is also a good place to get fun, near hangzhou xin tian di.
3.Transportation
Well, a total nightmare for those who plan to drive to hangzhou. The highway is more crowded than anyone could ever think of. 3 hours for a single trip is a must. We didnt try the taxi in hangzhou. Their driving style seemed to be even crazier.
I think the train is the best way to go there. You can take the train in Mei Long Railway Station, next to Jing Jiang Park subway station. RMB40/person, very comfortable
4.Sightseeing
Since it was a one day trip and mainly for relaxing, we didnt go to any of those tourist attractions except walking long the west lake in the drizzling rain for a while.

We plan to meet to leave Shanghai early Saturday morning 8:30 AM from a pick up point in XuJiaHui, and return Sunday evening.
UPDATED (5/10/04 - 10am) Confirmation list: (10 persons)

There are still a few additional maybe's but looks like we will have around 10 people. I will try and arrange for a smaller shuttle bus to cut costs so we can stay within budget.

Okay, as my duty to this community and to keep the trip within budget, I hereby volunteer to bunk with one of the girls so we don't blow the double-occupancy requirement. hey smurfette, I am sick right now ... had IV yesterday and still having fever so maybe not able to make it next Saturday. However, I will try to make it as I really want to see the HZ Tiandi - all my friends that have been there told me it is better than Shanghai Xintiandi ...

Dear D, sorry to hear that you are not in good condition. Actually I'm having slight heat too from the day before yesterday, but getting better now. My tips:
Don't worry too much and don't watch TV a lot especially during news time.

Another Update:
we will be meeting Saturday morning at 8:30am in pine city hotel
no.777 zhao jia bang lu(close to wulumuqi lu, dong'an lu)
Sorry about the early meeting time, but we would like to make it to HangZhou for Lunch and havethe afternoon there to enjoy the lake and at least a place of interest.
Wew have changed to a 16 passenger bus to reduce some cost. We will be staying at the Hang Zhou Hua Qiao Hotel (Fan Dian) on Hu Bing Lu, a newly renovated 3 star hotel.
Lawdude: Thanks for volunteering, but I believe we will have a few new additions to the group shortly.

Thanks for the understanding that I am not able to help a tiny single bit as I am in ZhouShan for the almost whole week. The best thing is, I didn't have time to visit Pu Tuo Shan!
