Post subject: recommend good movies (take 2)

seems like the movie discussion is very popular. i am creating another threads save the hassle of clicking too many next pages.

let me compile a list of great movies i watched, all hightly recommended
(not necessarily in this order)

pulp fiction
reservoir dog
jacki brown ( tarantino is talented)
bullets over broadway (in general, all woody's movie worth watching)
get shorty
la confidential
a beautiful mind (russel certainly can act, aussie pride)
matrix (don't bother to watch matrix 2 or 3)
mask (another canadian comedian, straight downhill after this tho)
crying game
crouching tiger (fiddler, u don't know what u missed!)
enemy at the gate
forrest gump (tom hanks certainly is a talented actor)
casablanca (how can you miss this one!)
the usual suspect ( where did kevin spacey go these days?)
schindler's list (well, spielberg's movies in general worth watching)
the sixth sense
momento (movie made by genius)
vertigo ( a bit old, still worth watching)
city lights
gladiator (russell again)

couldn't believe i came up with all this while i am typing. i must have missed something. please add to the list, but only master pieces in the same league plz

Renyu - Where is Kevin Spacey? He is the current artistic director of the old vic theatre company in London. He splits his spare time between getting mugged at 4am in london parks and denying his sexuality was the reason he was in a park at 4am talking to total strangers.

Am I the only non-Tarantino fan, thought Reservoir Dogs was good but the rest are just Quentin indulging himself, visually nice to look at but lacking in any reals substance. Or is this where his real talent lies and I have just been missing the point.

Movie to avoid; Gerry starring Matt Damon.

Totally agree with g/craig.. Reservoir dogs was great and then a slow downhill slide... after Kill Bill I I didn't see the point of buying II..

Movie to avoid (unless you are facing the firing squad, in which case watch this first and you'll be glad to go)
An English Patient!..

g/craig, right, mate! didn't kevin star in a broadway show some time ago. was it "the blue room" or "the graduate"? i happen to be in ldn this week, maybe i should swing by ldn parks to check out what he is really doing there Smile
coming back to movies, i think i missed american beauty, as good as it gets in my list. as for tanrantino, pulp fiction is his best work. his movies are just different, black humor(thought brits love that), good story line, always w/ surprises, the essential ingredients of a good movie.

Anything by The Cohen Brothers suits me, in particular Raizing Arizona and The Big Lebowski.
I think my most favourite film of all time is Withnail & I, it took me a couple of goes watching it to get the full humour, and strangely enough the older I get, the more I find it funny. I like Terry Gilliam films too, 'Brazil' especially.

I have a problem watching films at the moment, I think I am DVD'd out, and I tend to have trouble concentrating, but I did manage to sit through a film called 'Baraka' without fidgeting, it is amazing, there is no storyline as such, and I can't explain it really, you need to watch it. I am not a particulary spiritual person, but after watching this, I reckon it will make you think outside the box as it did with me.
