China Mobile VoiceMail

Overview
　When you can’t take a call,let your mobile take a message
It’s always the way. You’ve been waiting for a call all day. Then two come at once.
Fortunately, Voicemail will take a message for you, and play it back to you when you’re free.
At a glance
• Never worry about missing a call
• Choose to be alerted to new messages by a phone call or a text message
• Listen to your Voicemail messages any time by calling 13800210166
• Greet callers with your own recorded personal greeting
Voicemail allows callers to leave a message when you are unavailable to answer the call.
　
How to apply:
　　Call 10086; Online；Shanghai Mobile Outlet
　
When do calls divert to Voicemail?
Calls will be diverted to Voicemail if:

your phone is switched off

you are outside network coverage

you are already engaged on another call

you do not pick up the phone

　

To first set up Voicemail and then to set standard diverts:
Enter **62*13800210166# followed by SEND - this will divert when you are switched off.
Enter **61*13800210166# followed by SEND outside coverage this will divert when you do not pick up the phone.
Enter **67*13800210166# followed by SEND outside coverage this will divert when you are already engaged with another call.

To cancel all the options:
Enter ##002# followed by SEND

To set "immediate divert":
Enter **21*13800210166# followed by SEND - "Immediate divert" routes all calls to Voicemail, your phone will not even ring first.

　　　　　How do I access my messages?
To access voice mail from your China-Mobile phone, perform one of the following steps:
call 13800210166
At the prompt, enter your password.
Press “#” to listen,delete the messages or change your password according to the prompt.
NOTE: Applicable airtime, tolls, roaming, and other charges may apply.

　　
　　Can I retrieve my voicemail messages from another phone?
Yes - to access voice mail from a landline or another phone:
call 13800210166
then enter your mobile phone number
At the prompt, enter your password.
Press “#” and then Press and hold the Star (*) key to listen,delete the messages or change your password according to the prompt.
　　Note： Your default VoiceMail password is 1111.
　　

　　
　　Please clear the message box to keep the new messages can be received.
　　

　　Only 15 messages can be stored in the VoiceMail system. Each message can be up to 1 minute and will be kept in our system for 7 days..

great info though i gotta tell you, with the common usage of SMS here, I have had VM for a year and I can count on one hand the number of messages people have actually left for me. not necessarily worth the 10rmb a month.

Yu888 is right, I had voicemail also, the local chinese is shy about leaving a voice message, they are just not use to it.

I think having the option of VM is cool because I'm lazy to send/type SMS.

Does the system support call waiting? I haven't seen that here, but it's common overseas.

yeah..call waiting is supported ,but you have to contact the CSR in China Mobile to open it first

Ditto yu888 and shalamazoo. This is not a VM culture. SMS is the rule here. Or check your "Missed Calls" and call back. VM and you VM alone. Save yourself a few kuai.

Hi Rainstopme, Now i end up turning my voicemail back on, I use to have great reception in my building, now with the construction near by, I think they took down one of the cell antenna, my signal are crap now, most calls coming in are ending as miss call, I receive calls from oversea everyday, but their call are in random numbers, how can i change the message in the voicemail to English or my personal message??? can I set how many time it ring before the call is forward to voicemail???

just ring 13800210166 press 2 for setting---- 3 for language ---2 for english

the time period can't be set....only with some special mobile phones

Hi,

I'm using the voice mail service from China Telecom and left a personal greeting message.

I also activated the voice mail forwarding once my mobile phone is power off.

Usually when my phone is off, people can hear my personal greeting but now they just hear a girl saying something in English like: hello, welcome to voice mail service...

I called China Mobile and they are no able to explain why I can't get my personal greeting message.

Do you know how to activate your personal greeting message?

I got some hilarious messages when I used to have VM back in the day. Many people simply did not know how to use it so I got "wei, wei ........ wei, wei, ....... wei, wei ...... click".

I just figured out that the personal greeting can't be heard first like before.

If your phone is off, people will hear a girl talking and people need to press # to listen to the personal greeting... Not very convenient....

Any other way to have the personal greeting only?

That's what I want to know. I just set it all up because of the terrible coverage in my new apt but you have to listen to their greeting, then press # to get to my greeting and leave the message. I want it to go right into my greeting. Anyone know how to do that?

Same problem. No one tends to leave me a message after the CM greeting, press #, my greeting, CM girl again, then recording, # again + you have to press 1 to confrim. They have another service so called "Remind Me"--a quasi-vociemail service with SMS notification only. See: http://www.chinamobile.com/en/mainland/products/nb02.html

Please could anyone let me know if this can be more straightforward?

Voice Mail is a thing of the past. I havent used it since 1995 and I am always annoyed when calling people in Europe and find myself talking to their machine.
