My controllers are wireless, it did not come with the HD DVD, if thats what your asking.
I just have a huge old rear projection TV anyway so the HD would be kind of lost on it. |

Picked up my 360 yesterday, paid 2680 at one of the games stores at Wulumuqi Lu/ Nanjing Xi Lu. Its the Taiwanese model, so had to buy a power adapter, got a cooling fan that clips into the back of the machine which should help. Plus 15 games and 1 wireless control pad. Pretty happy with, games look awesome. Thanks everyone for your input. |

I have an Australian 360. The voltage is the same as China 240V I think. Will it be o.k. if I use my Aussie power brick? I'm moving over in a week and bringing my 360 and PS3. I lived in China a year ago and used all my Australian electronics and they were fine, just a little worried about the 360 and PS3, they're my babies. |

My PS2 had a UK power plug, so yours should be ok. |

I've had an XBOX360 for the last few years, bought in Beijing. I don't think it was chipped, becasue the seal looks intact, but it has no problem playing copied games. Not thinking and not being able to find it in Shanghai (my new home)...I had Madden 2008 sent from the US last week...and don't you know...it won't play because of the region code.
It's strange because I can play copied US titles with out a problem.
So...do I have to get my XBOX 'chipped'? Or can someone run an image of the original disk and make it playable on my system. I mean, that must be what someone does to make the copies, right?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
And Yes... I have an original version of Madden '08 (US copy) that needs to be played really badly. |

i would reckon that your xbox is chipped because you can play copied games...
here's something i found while googling about changing the region code on your xbox, i have no idea what they are talking about, might as well have been written in chinese, but maybe you can figure it out...

I actually tried that post and it worked on my original xbox360 I had while living back north. With chipped xboxes it is a bit tricky since they modify part of the Kv.bin usually |

I think mines from HK. It has Chinese labelling on the back, and already has the huge power adapter for the funky three prong socket.
Hahaha so i JUST need to crack open the xbox, de-solder a chip, have it re-flashed with some mystery code and then solder it back into my box. Will that effect my warranty??? haha
The copied version of Madden '07 I bought in Beijing works fine. Someone got around the region code to do that, right? There must be an easier way around it by making a mirror of the disk and altering the region code before burning it... I would think.
I heard that Microsoft just recently started booting modded xboxes off of xbox live. Not sure if that is true or not, but there was a big disclaimer the other day about people being removed from live in order to keep the gaming 'fair'. Sounds like it is a possibility. I just updated it with the latest patch and still had no problems getting on live, so I'm still not convinced I have a modded box.
Anyone around Xuhui/Luwan with either a US made box, or a chipped box to try it out on? (that is into Madden too...pm me) |

GOD I'm jealous of the gaming nights you can have, I really cheesed off at my decision to wait until I get home to purchase one!!
On NO ACCOUNT should yo ever tell me how HALO 3 Plays, what happens or ends.
Any chance of letting me know where i can get your PS2 fixed??? |

If you can play copy games the box is chipped - there is not other way around it. Chipped boxes are allowed in xboxlive if you have a previous account. In some cases it is not possible to open an account with a chipped box. But mine works as well so I am not too sure. |

Depends on where your xbox comes from, what firmware it has and what manufacture date it has.
My modded Japanese XBox from early last year and has an Australian XBoxLive account and I have no problems with connecting to live, downloading updates/demos or playing copied games. It has problems playing original NTSC/U and PAL games but is okay with original NTSC/J games. not sure why exactly. |

Nice one Fiddles, you should have got the component cable included so no need for the VGA lead.
When I bought mine I got an intercooler attachment which slots into the back of your power supply, it has 3 fans within it and so far the hot air is escaping rather nicely, paid 50 Kwai for it.
What games did you get with it? Bioshock Colin McRae Dirt and Forza 2 are pretty awesome. |

i'll just give it a try with the live account then, see what happens...
i have played plenty of hours on guitar hero II , what a firecracker of a game, cant wait for the third one now, and am also into stuntman ignition, dead rising ( bit strange with the game saves though ). started saints row and the darkness as well as Vampire Rain, but not too chuffed about those.
Forza 2, Need For Speed Carbon and Dirt are waiting to be played , as well as Gears Of War, Far Cry and the all time classics Hitman and GTA III and Vice City. Played those on PS2 to the max, but wanna see the differences. Was thinking about buying GRAW II but rather wait for the original ps3 game to get my hands on...
and the vga lead does make for a better picture quality... |

Hi all.
I don't know if this is a private party, so excuse my intrusion , but it sounds like I've stumbelled across a wealth of knowledge here, when it comes to buying games in PRC.
I'll be heading out to Beijing for business (I'm from Australia) in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone would know if there are any decent places to buy a pre-modded Xbox 360 and games in Wangfujing?
I understand this forum is 'Shanghai' specific, but I thought I'd try my luck anyway |

Apologies accepted
I am currently checking with a colleague in Beijing about places to go , maybe others beat me to it though.
However, consider the following : ( If you havent done so already )
The chipped consoles are not that much cheaper. In my opinion it only makes sense to get one if you have regular access to the newest copied games. You very likely will not be able to log on to x box live, which is a big minus in my opinion. Furthermore you'll probably need to look into a power adapter so your console doesnt blow up when you use it back home.
I am not a big fan of copied games/chipped consoles, because also when you're having troubles with the consoles after a couple of months, you'll have no possibility to just return it and have it repaired...
hope that helped a little, and i'll get back to you when i find out about addresses in the capitol |
