Haven't these ill-bred, ill-mannered, uneducated colonials become a parody of themselves in which pouring beer over each others heads while greeting themselves with a hearty 'G'day mate!' seems to be de rigeur behaviour for any self-respecting Oorshtrayliun?
It's like any time and I mean ANYTIME you meet an Australian person (I say person because sometimes it's difficult to make a distinction between male and female from Oz) they cannot help themselves but make some reference to that big donut-shaped desert island.
Apart from winning at cricket they have contributed very little to the world. Politically their countries leaders either make dodgy nuclear arms deals in the 70's or have the personality of a dead wombat like John Howard.
The country has become more paranoid than the Septics - Apec now.
In terms of culture I think the only kind of culture that comes out of that big dustbowl can be found in a yoghurt carton.
No doubt every single 'Aussie' will refer to me as a 'whinging pom' in defence, but really, next time you happen to talk to one of these lot, listen to the way they speak out of the side of their mouth in some muttering monotone which sounds like one continuous complaint.
This thread will get over 100 views by the end of today because Australians are very insecure about themselves which can only come from a culture and nation of such immaturity.

There is seriously a huge Aussie Community in Shanghai, PP.
No doubts that I spend my first 20 yrs here in China, but I think I understand what you mean by 'Aussie's insecurity'
Day by day, everytime see the finance news that the AU$ is up up and up, I just start to wounder why the economy is being stronger.
The biggest advantage for OZ is 'an english speaking country'. Lacks of competition are not only happened with the country, but also within the country. In OZ, any Shanghainese will get to the top at work....just because we are all Shanghai's leftover, and at least we've got the city's characters.
Welcome to the board, if you wwana have a comfy lay-back life style, otherwise, get stucked in Shanghai.

I agree with what you are saying. Many Australians have no idea what goes on outside of Australia. To many, its a BIG TRIP to go from the outter Western Suburds into the City. Depressing really. |

this is a first class thread, trolling at its finest!
I've got an australian friend who's pretty quiet, doesn't like sport and prefers G&Ts to swilling pints all over himself and others, so I think there are exceptions to the rule. Mind you, he was railroaded out of the country on the back of a Ute.

yeah look at yesterday at APEC with the fake Canadian motorcade with fake Osama stepping out after passing two check points.
we love to take the p1ss, just think about what the reaction in other countries would have been. a quick newspoll of australians
found that 90% thought it was funny and a laugh at the APEC security. |
