Post subject: Z Visa coming from Australia to Shanghai

Planning on coming to SHanghai in January to commence work with an international firm.
A friend of mine who is also joining the company tells me in order to obtain a Z Visa you MUST have a Degree.

I anticipate getting my degree end of October of this year but I'm curious for clarification. Is it a MUST HAVE requirment that you have a degree in order to be considered for a Z Visa?

Or is it a more subjective test where the authorities look at your work history, what your job is etc to decide whether or not to allow you entry?

Also does an F Visa allow me to work in Shanghai as well ebcause the F Visa seems easier to get?

The F visa does not legally permit you to work in China. Many people do so, but there are crackdowns. Additionally, the renewal of the F visa has become increasingly more difficult as the authorities have realized there are thousands of people working without paying taxes.

My understanding is that a degree is necessary. Years ago, I only had to provide work history but upon the reissuance of a new Z visa (complete with med screen and the entire process repeated) five years later, I did have to supply my diploma.
