| Post subject: paying Canadian visa card bills in China |
I heard through the grape vine that it is possible to pay my Canadian credit card by going to a bank with some address+card info etc. Anyone know if there is any truth to this rumour?
Thanks |

Better, faster and hassle free to pay via internet banking, in my opinion. |

Good point. Is that an option here with any banks here? I do that back home but now my money is here.
Thanks |

You will have to wire money back to your Canadian account and then use internet banking to pay off your credit cards bills. As far as I know, there isn't a way to pay RMB directly into a CAD credit card. Maybe other members have more info to share? |

My situation is that I have a US account in Shanghai, I'm not sure if that changes anything. I am trying to find a way to pay my visa bill without sending money home to my Canadian bank. I guess in a way I am just looking for a different way to send money home while avoiding the fees. Do you think an international bank like citibank may do this? |

If it's in Canadian funds, good luck. think Canadian institutions want to be paid in CAD. Other than paying by wiring money back (about 250RMB I think) you can send a bank draft if they are still available here in China. One other thought might be Western Union. However, by the time one considers fees gets kinda expensive. Think hautumncloud is right on this one. Alternative is to give Visa a call and talk with them about their alternative payment methods. |

One more thing, if you do call Visa please let us know what they say. I think may of the foreigners here would also like to know. |
