On this way you can use the whole screen to search the map:
http://www.uumap.com/engine
Try also this one if you are searching for a particular service:
http://local.jongo.com/index.do
Just type the keyword of the service you are looking for, ie
Perfume, Bar, Supermarket, Toys,...
And you get a list of addresses in pingyin and chinese characters with the position on the map |

at the top left side, there is a button to toggle between Chinese / English
The last two zoom levels are in Chinese only |

all that info on ditu.google.com, but nothing for maps.google.com (2 whole streets for shanghai!) Not enough demand I guess. |

Wow..... Wow.... Wow.... Finally it arrived! UUMAP has updated their map and it is great! new link is
http://shanghai.uumap.com/#
You can type the street name (in English on the area where the magnifying glass is) and it'll located it on the map. Well the major roads at least, haven't try all the roads yet. |
Do you mean pinyin? Nice map by the way! |

| Post subject: MAP - of subway lines (and stops) relative to... |
I'm looking for a map of the subway lines, and more importantly stops, and the expat communities highlighted to show the proximity between the two.
Or vice versa - a map of all the expat communities in Shanghai with the closest subway stop to the complex / compound identified.
Where oh where is this information ??? |

best I can come up with chief.
I use this on my blackberry, invest in a transit card if u haven't already, makes subway running alot easier, ie I don't have to push/shove and jump in front of the ticket office to see how much it is from Peoples Square to XJH. Use these 2 things, and subway transportation is a cinch.
Saved my ass many a times during rush hour.
Hope this helps. |

Here is a cool link that shows the newest lines, they should be open by the end of this year. Unfortunately this doesn't show your highlighted communities. |

1- expats are white only?
2- expats are shut in specific areas? |

This is the best website I've seen so far that compares the location / subway lines and stops to the properties.
http://www.autumnleaves.com.cn/housing/h-list0.htm
Edit: If you go to the Property Listings link in the upper right hand corner and click on the area, then the property it will highlight where the place is on the map in the pop-up window. Might take some time to filter through, but best comprehensive list I've seen so far. |
