Yes, no doubt about your language skills, I simply meant although it's not entirely logical, some vendors no matter how well you speak will simply not go lower for a westerner, perhaps because in their mind you can afford to pay more which of course is ludicrous. On the other hand, I have seen some westerners bargain harder than any Chinese would dare to, so there's no hard and fast rules. |

Agree, but since I asked about 10 stores then I can judge very clearly on what the price should of been. Highest 4800 lowest 4500 in that particular week. |

To have an offline Chinese-English dictionary on iPhone, one has to install weDict and add any of the Chiense-English dictionaries from StarDict website.
No pinyin available. |

Does the unlocked iphone has all its functions operational in PRC, i.e. MMS, etc?
Cos MMS doesn't work in China for my dopod brought in from another country.
If so, i m considering getting an iphone from the States & have it unlocked here. |

I knew lots of people in shanghai using iphone, they got them in two way:
1. let their friends or relatives to buy one from usa, and unlock it in shanghai for local use
2. bought one from local ventor who get some smuggled iphones.the price would be about 4500rmb, and 5700rmb is really expensive. |

mms isn't even fully functional in a legit ipod. you get a weblink and have to browse to a page to see mms. however, sms is working. the only us iphone function that will not work on an unlocked phone is visual voicemail, which is an at&t service in the us.
i'm thinking prices have gone up, based on what the above have said, and based off taobao. when i bought my phone for 4200, taobao had them listed around 39-42. now they're ranging on average around 44-4500. so yes prices have gone up. |

ok so prices in this forum range from 3700 to 5700rmb. 10min ago i checked a store in pacific digital plaza (xujiahui) and the price i got was 5500 before any bargain. This is all 8gb.. anyone that sells a 4gb out there? Would you advice me to buy on taobao? Afraid it might be second-hand?
Are the prices going up because Apple are too short on iPhones these days?? And how can a friend of mine get it for 2800RMB(8gb) from US to Norway and the lowest price in China be 4700??
My "last price" would be something like 4300.... so the question would be.. do i buy mysellf an iphone for xmas? |

A cracked Apple? Comes not good and you will not achieve the effect you intend to. Except you want to have continuously trouble with online updating, file compatibility, software etc…
I recommend you to wait until Meizu is out. It comes along with a Windows Media 6 OS for which you get tons of software. For many profs, using mobile in company for instance, is the fact interesting that you can get this Pocket PC without camera. In US, Europe but also Korea you can’t enter many companies with a photo handy anymore.

Guess if you get an Apple for 4k, it should be a good price, but not the latest ROM! |

The prices on this forum are updated as they change.
There are few 4GB left, sold for about 4200-4500RMB.
Prices have gone up because noone can unlock 1.1.2 phones yet, and they are running out of 1.1.1, so there is a bigger demand.
An iPhone in US costs $400 - 2930RMB.
An unlocked iPhone is not different from a locked one in almost any way, including the possibility to update software. |

they just updated the meizu form factor AGAIN a few months ago. i'm telling you, i've been waiting for that thing for about a year, and it keeps changing every few months to keep up with the apple announcements.
tooling for the body of the phone probably takes a month or two to make. i can't believe they keep changing it. therefore, i think its BS. that phone is total vaporware.
plus it runs WM. |

Is there a 3rd party application that allows the user to type SMS and Emails in landscape mode? It's difficult for me to type in portrait mode. |

Unlocking the chinese hacked ones to 1.1.2 is mafan.
This is what I had to do to 2 friends phones here.
Restore to 1.1.1
Jailbreak
Restore Modem BaseBand
Restore to 1.1.1 again
Jailbreak
Revirginize
Restore to 1.1.1 again
Jailbreak
Fix SIM Unlock with AnySim 1.2u
Run Octoprep
Update to 1.1.2
Jailbreak
1.1.2 is currently unhackable if it came from Apple with it. If you accidentally upgraded, its ok to downgrade.
Good sources for the installer: modmyifone.com/installer.xml / i.unlock.no
There are a couple of chinese installer sites too, check your installer sources sites before you upgrade anything...
MMS - there is already an application to send/receive.
8G Price - currently around 4800 (for those interested). |

so now 1.1.2 is hackable? they have to cut ur sim and customize it... price.. 4700rmb. Is it better to buy a 1.1.1 for 5300rmb than the 1.1.2 for 4700? and how complicated is this stuff? if i want my 1.1.2 back to 1.1.1 is this possible? can i downgrade to 1.0.2?
above all.. which version is the best one and to what price?
and is it possible after all the hacking to upgrade it thorugh itunes and use an authorized telecompany whenever u want? |

Read what I wrote carefully.
As of the time of writing, if a unit came with 1.1.2 from the Factory, its currently unhackable to use with a local SIM. If you upgraded it by accident, then its possible to fix it (using the steps above).
Current price for an usable 8G is about 4800 around town, so thats what you should negotiate for. Not sure what the 1.1.2 firmware ones are going for currently. |

I doubt the quoted price for 1.1.1 iPhone and would say it is around 5300-5600 today.
Some sellers say the 1.1.2 price and don't tell you the difference if it is not specified that you, of course, want 1.1.1. |

today i was quoted a price of 5,500 for 1.1.1 and 4,800 for 1.1.2. With 1.1.2 they offered a small circuit like thing that needed to be fixed to the SIM card and then inserted into the iphone. To test if it works or not, the person wanted to slightly cut the SIM card. I refused and hence do not know if it works or not. |

This isn't the lowest price for a 1.1.2. The multi-sim unlock method itself works, it just depends on the person unlocking it, of course. |

The Sim Card hack is actually better for the long run.
Then you can use the newer phones firmwares and upgrade without worries.
Google TurboSim or StealthSim, thats essentially what they're offering.
I can still see iPhones at 4800 with 1.1, so bargain people! |
