Hey,
hahah, i'm sure your joke about happy endings / prostitution are funny.
Looking for suggestions on good saunas and bath houses. I honestly just want a quality place which is clean, and has lots of good facilities. I'm taking a friend there.
I know of one on Fan Yu lu near Hong Qiao Lu (888 fan yu lu i think). I've also heard of Xiao Nan Guo on Hong Mei Lu having one? |

try taipan sauna (tel 63023466) where they offer a cny188 package of 1hr foot massage and 1hr body massage. the place is open by 'sei tai' (4th wife) of mr ho and the food is provided by lisboa cafe. v good but i think u cannot shower there. |

I haven't bee in such kind of places but it is heard that a club named JIYUAN Club(吉原会所) is a little bit famous in Jing'an District.
Hope it would be useful. |

sorry about the above message, I remember it well that sauna club is not the one you are after maybe. It takes around RMB 800 for the whole services, which is crazy for men.

Thanks John. I am going to take some of your earlier advice on the other thread and try somewhere different because as you said, not all the expensive places are the best. |

xiao nan guo at hong mei lu is pretty good. vip showers; hot, cold, salt pools, saunas, massage area, recreational facilities, etc. all very clean. oh, and some free food from xiao nan guo, as well as ala carte.
last time i was there, i used the vip showers, got a foot massage, ears cleaned, nails done (shut it), cha bei, and my shoes shined for 400 kuai. |

I wish they had full-fledged saunas here like they do in ShenZhen... Great alternatives to hotels... Used to spend my off days there during the short term stint in ShenZhen...
Queen Spa was the biggest... all sorts of massages / rooms... head and foot massaged by 2 therapists at the same time while I watched TV and snack away... then to snooze freely after the massages... clean bathrooms... shower and backrub... all sorts of pools (which I didn't try)... facials and haircuts... in house restaurants...
I loved it... and it was very reasonably priced... 98 yuan entrance fee... spend 168 and get that waved... for any 24 hour period... no need to check out at noon...
I have been searching for something similar here in Shanghai... looked at the locals consumer review page and concluded there's nothing quite as good as Queen's Spa in ShenZhen, but Ri-Star JingAn CEO branch at 333 ChengDu North Road seems to be the best... in terms of facilities / ritziness / services... and most expensive...
Called to ask about prices... 198 yuan entrance fee waved after a 418 yuan 2hr massage... ONLY if you arrive after mid-night... 1hr of foot massage is 148 yuan... which is quite a bit more than the rest of the saunas in town...
Anyway... hope to try it out at some point before I go... If I do... will report... |

Shanghai saunas are much more expensive than the ones in shenzhen. i used to spend a lot of time in shenzhen saunas (esp the one called lan kwai fong) and it was never more than cny220, with a 2hr back massage. great place |

I don't get the big deal about 'legit' versus 'non-legit' saunas. Just go to an upscale sauna without getting a girl. Guys go to these places with their wives for goodness sake. Just don't ask for a girl if that's not what you are after. |

By asking for legit places, I was looking for upscale. I didn't want somebody pointing me to a place, I show up there, and whaddya know it's more a dingy brothel than anything else.

In my experience, the extra services are extra cost. If I don't have the extras, they do not charge the extra cost. For example, 200 for massage, 100 more if you want the happy ending at the place on Shaanxi Nan Rd just before it intersects with Zhao Jia Bang Rd. |

i think u have not been to one of those massage places that dont really offer massages. that is my definition of non legit. also most non legit places dont want you to waste their time on $200 massages. what they want is the big dodgy tickets.
also isnt it a bit stupid of you to walk into a non legit place and asking for a legit massage? its like going to a chinese restaurant and ordering curry. |

I've still got a card here for a place called Clearwater Bay (清水湾). Even got a website www.clubclearwaterbay.com
It's on Kaixuan Rd., No 1495. Putuo district near the inner ring Rd.
They did good massage though not cheap. I think it was around 400 RMB per person for massage. Massage was by young girls who knew what they were doing and were also pretty talkative and funny. There were no extras or anything, and if that was available I assume it was with different girls and on a different level of the complex. It's got all the stuff you'd expect in terms of baths and all that, plus one of the floors is mixed sex and you can go there to get food or beers, use the gym, play pool or table tennis, watch a performance, etc. All in all pretty cool.
You could take your mother there no problems. |

The dodgy places don't try and charge 800 RMB unless they think you look like a dummy.
The places that really charge 800 RMB invariably have a whole range of services besides dodgy ones. |

There are so many different types of places I guess we are not talking about the same thing. Many places are really legit places that just offer something extra if required. Other places are 100% non-legit and they can't even do any kind of massage.
There are places even have men and women customers. They STILL offer happy endings to guys if requested. So you CAN go for a good massage if that's all you want.
