No problem.. they have the usual stuff like back home.. kaya toast (not much kaya aroma though), half-boiled eggs, milo dinosaur, teh/kopi, laksa, meesiam etc. Think it's owned by BreadTalk which is also there. |

There is another toastbox at MetroCity XJH. Forget about the half boiled egg. I should call it not boiled egg. I guess they follow the soaking timing in Singapore but forgot that they are having winter in China.
Mee Siam not too bad lah.
Kopi is very much the Singapore Kopi. |

fyi, the name of the building is Meiluochen which is MetroCity, XJH, the same outlet which samcy mentioned. it is not Meilongzhen which is on Nanjing XiLu. ha ha..

^^ I would like to know as well. In Beijing, several Malaysian restaurants were offering "yee sang" but you have to pre order. And they use smoked salmon instead of the fresh fish. |

Yu Sheng is actually a unique dish in Singapore and Malaysia. Many Chinese are unaware of it.
If there is a demand, may be I can import some to sell. BTW, I distribute Yu Sheng long time ago. May be we can organise a low hei so that you guys can try the one that I sell. I provide the Yu Sheng, someone got to buy vege, someone else got to buy salmon/raw fish. |

Coming back to shanghai on 19 Feb, can also bring some goodies back. Best is get a restaurant that can prepare other ingredient. Sometimes it is not the food but the spirit and atmosphere. We lo hei 5-6 times during CNY period but never get sick of it. It is indeed quite fun. |

Has anyone seen any CNY goodies (i.e. stuff like pineapple tarts, kueh bangkit and nyonya love letters) being sold here? I see MeiZhenXiang everywhere but they only sell bahkuah (BBQ meats), unlike the ones in Singapore which sell everything from bahkuah to shrimp rolls and CNY goodies.

Was at Prima Taste for the third time last Sat. Very bad service! I thought the first two times was just a fluke but I won't be back ever again. The food is at best average. They don't have laksa and according to their "manager" Johnson, they have not been serving laksa since before CNY. We were there about 8pm and all 5 dishes we wanted were not available including Prawn Mee - mei you, mei you and the manager proceeded to have a loud conversation with the kitchen staff while taking our order saying - next time you should get more of this/that etc. The staff were very unmotivated and at one point almost all left to go with the manager to Swenson's.
Walked by Toast Box later, would go back and try. They had laksa on the menu and were jam packed. |

what the heck!? No more Laksa at Primas ?! My next trip is gonna be Toastbox I guess... though it isn't really a nice environment to bring a date... |

Prima here was pretty good a few months back! Lucky I haven't been bringing my local friends there recently. Coz I've been raving to them about Primas |

hautumncloud: Give me a high-five man! The service there seems to be getting worse and I wonder why. Prima used to be a place that I'd love to go to for their laksa. I had a bad experience there recently with my hainanese chicken rice. The sauce was given to me without ginger and my chili was actually SAMBAL chili. When I requested for ginger, they gave me a drop of ginger in return.
It's such an irony isn't it? They've got a banner outside the restaurant showcasing their 'specialty dishes': Laksa and Hainanese Chicken Rice but these 2 happen to be the dishes that disappointed their customers greatly. |

^^We had the SAME thing for our Hainanese Chicken rice! They gave us sambal,(which droop over to the soya sauce as well) no ginger! We were very dissappointed this last visit, not just because of the chicken rice but overall, not worth our time, effort and money to go back. |

All this talk about SG food is making me crave for chilli crab! Anyone tried the one at Nanyang Cuisine is it good? Or are there any other places to recommend? Appreciate any inputs! |

I went to this Bak Kut Teh restaurant opposite Cloud Nine. The Bak Kut Teh is good. The Bak Kut is tender. The Carrot cake is shiok as well. They have wide variety of Singaporean dishes as well. The boss is always there. Teow Chew Lang. Any thing not happy just approach him. I was even offer a beeter grade tea, FOC. |

Sigh.. These are sad times... I went to Primas a few days ago to 'try my luck', only to find all the reported facts still true. No Laksa. Satay was like soysauce marinated BBQ, Char Kway Teow was EXACTLY like the roadside fried noodles, but half as tasty. Chicken Rice was okay, but didn't come with the signature chilli anymore. Sad, I won't be going back to Primas ever.
Funny thing was, the place was quite packed when I arrived, so I thought to myself that maybe the food was back to normal. But, No. |
