Oh, you would not believe just how irked I was when I found out that I had missed "Learn From Lei Feng Day" again this year. Boy howdy, am I pissed. I hate the newspapers for only reporting things after they happen...there's never any advance warning of these things. |

whats ur plan if u know it in advance? @_@
in the olden days chairman hu will probably plant a tree indicating that he is learning from leifeng;the factories/school will ask all labours/kids to stop working for a day and clean some windows/doors, to show they are learning from leifeng; and if you are white and you did something good, like picked up one penny and handed to the police you will probably be on the newspaper all over the country urself!
no more olden days anymore:( |

Apparently they are coming out with an online game called "Learn from Lei Feng Online!"
http://www1.china.org.cn/english/Life/161833.htm
Seems people play it in Guangzhou, but I can't seem to find the actual game.
edit: Or maybe it is not online, and just a game. |

The college students used to line the streets and offer to fix people's electronic equipment. It was actually quite nice. |

Let me tell you something. Clear your ears and listen carefully.
The stories of Lei Feng are all lies, fabricated by Chinese government, and had their own purposes in those uinique days.
However, Comrade Lei Feng did exist. This dude was a volunteer driver for a transportation of some very dangerous substance in a nuclear experiment.
A good guy in person? Maybe. A good guy in reallity? I don't think so. Just a pawn. |

I live, close to the Pudong International Exhibition Center. Every time an exhibition is on, people line the street at the Long Yang road metro station to offer stolen laptops and mobile phones. A few weeks ago there was even police to make sure they weren't bothered. |

Lei Feng (雷鋒; Léi Fēng) (December 18, 1940 - August 15, 1962) was a soldier of the People's Liberation Army of the PRC. After his death he was characterized by propaganda as a selfless and modest person who was devoted to Chairman Mao. In the posthumous "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng" (向雷鋒同志學習) campaign, started by Mao in 1963, the youth of the country were indoctrinated to follow his example. |

If he did everything in secret, as they keep telling us, why was there a photographer there every time? I really did not know that the Chinese invented paparazzi too... |

My favorite expo line up so far was during the musical instrument expo when the street was lined with people selling violins. There aren't many places where you see sidewalk violin vendors! |

I think the most important thing is he died on his job. therefore he was magnified as an example of a good guy.
yes he was a driver, no nothing nuclear about him.
the actual lie is that LF didnt die because he worked too hard, he died because he couldnt drive as a driver and hit this massive pole when doing reverse and the pole fell down and hit the car and killed him. hence he could also be branded as incompetent, NOT gave up his life FOR his job(as been told).

yes true all sorts of helping others activities must be done on leifeng day. but on other days? nobdy cares.
the thing is, its nice to do volenteering works. but everyone was forced to go and nobody really wanted to go. hence its not volenteery!! hence a rubbish job is done.
leifeng day is growing out of fashion these days comparing to 5-10 yrs ago. |

Doing some errands for old ladies in your neighbourhood is nice. But, helping build a weapon of mass destruction is definitely wrong. |

If building a WMD is wrong, do you support building small bombs and guns?
Do you support no weapons at all? Only fighting with fists, in which case the big will rule the small?
WMD's don't kill, people do. Stop building people! |

Holding WMD means holding power, and power of this kind will do nothing good. |
