| Post subject: Baking soda |
Any tips on where to find baking soda? I have heard that it might be found in specialty shops like City Super, but I was hoping to find it in regular supermarkets (Carrefour, GMS, Lianhua, TESCO).
I have seen lots of cornstarch and MSG but not this...probably because most
people don't have ovens?
Thank you |

ooh just googled it, and in Aus we have 'bi carbonate soda' and 'baking powder'. Good to know that 'baking soda' is the same as bi carb soda! |

Baking soda can be found anywhere. I've seen Arm and Hammer baking soda at the "Cai Chang: or wet market. |

Be careful at City Shop that you are getting Arm and Hammer and not Arm and Hatchett. Same yellow box but not 100% bicarbonate soda. Does not work well in baking! |

What about self raising flour? I couldn't find any baking section in Jingqiao Carrefour so got some local self raising floor for steaming Man Tou not for baking. Tried to bake banaba cake with it and it was disaster! |

CoffeHawk, excellent piece of info! Now I don't need to throw away the local flour. Just have to look for baking soda.
Many thanks! |
