Post subject: Visa expire / what to do ?

My year long visa expires in two months, but I quit the job that gave me the visa, months ago.

Will I be penalized for the gap between ending my employment, and getting a new visa? Technically, it's not expired, but technically i don't work for that company any more.

What's the latest news on HK run for Americans? or another country like Cambodia, can i pick up a 6-month one there, with, say, a mere business card?

I thought after quitting a job, your visa, regardless of what the date says on it, was reduced to 30 days unless you switch to a new job...I think it depends on whether the company reported you as leaving their company right away, or if they made a deal with you to not report you...I may be wrong, but I thought this is what was explained to me by my co-worker/HR person here a while back...it might not be a problem if you switched your workplace in your little booklet though to your new job...

I think you can still get the HK visa for 6 months, but I think it is still true that you need to run out of the country every 30 days...
