For clarification, World of Warcraft is where grown-up people spend countless hours pretending they're Elves and Wizards (and other lame make-believe rebranded circa D&D characters), cast even lamer spells, get sent to dungeons and "team up" with all the other dorks that didn't get laid at their highschool prom either and cruise around a make-believe mystical fantasy world having hobbit adventures......

Geek shiat like that?

As opposed to forums where people spend countless hours prentending they are all knowing oracles, give all knowing opinions, enter useless threads and "team up" with all the other dorks to troll and pick on noobs to gain a reputation that they would not achieve in real life...

Damn, seems like I picked a bad day to arrive in town. I'm on a business trip from europe and have some downtime, and am having the problems described here. I can log in 100% of the time, but get forcibly disconnected after a minute or less.

So for those of you have experienced this before, did you ever figure out what was causing it or did it just stop happening at some point?

well, the problem is pretty bad. i am not sure whether this is a china problem or server problem since people in various places have this problem as well. it is definitely still very bad as i write.

What kind of latency do you guys usually get when connecting to a foreign server, when everything is working as normal?

Its between 300-500 when everything is working well. But after patch 2.3, latency has not been very stable for me.

okay, that's reasonable. Right now I seem to be able to stay connected for more than a minute, but the latency is above 10,000!

Btw, this problem is not unique to China. There are many posts on official WoW forums about this problem, which affects players in several countries, including China and Philippines. Apparently, the problem lies with AT&T that Blizzard uses. No solution yet unfortunately.

quote this from wow official forum. probably one of people wrote this:

For the people in China:
There is a 6% packet loss between the peering of China Telecom and AT&T.
I have been in contact with the network engineers of AT&T and they have adviced us to contact our ISP to open a ticket with AT&T to resolve this issue.

http://en.chinatelecom.com.cn/about/03/index.html

China Telecom Global Services Center : 8621-50581000 (English)

The more of us that contact them, the better our chances are they will look into it.

Greets,
Djares

these just take 1 hour then we all could snap back to reality
