Our doors are swinging here by Shanghai Railway Station. I thought I was just feeling light-headed or something. 16th floor. Some of my mainland colleagues who had never been in an earthquake before were pretty panicky |

Just saw the report. A 7.8 earthquake hit Sichuan close to Chengdu and was felt as far away as Beijing and Shanghai! Holy ****! 7.8? |

Yep, felt it in the office here - 27th floor, near Caoyang Station on line 3. From the postings above it was noticed more in this part of town than others. From Shanghai Railway Station just East of here to Jingan in the South and Hongqiao to the Southwest. |

felt nothing in our office except it was fun watching the look of panic that came over all the locals as the heard the news. evacuations of some taller buildings around town as a precaution, though i doubt they canproperly inspect any of these buildings without condemning many of them. as many felt the swaying. rumor has it something in People's Sq collapsed though honestly not sure if related to quake or not. |

Here's a real time map of world seismographic activity. Fun to look at -- if you're not actually in the midst of it. Didn't feel it in the Huamu area.

Felt it here at the Shanghai Stock Exchange. All tall buildings in the neighborhood appear to have been evacuated (because, you know, the best place to be in an earthquake is milling about beside the tall building you just exited) |
