Post subject: where to find american hair products?

Hi guys,

I just came to shanghai a couple of weeks ago, and i was wondering where i can find Salon brand hair products? I'm looking for brands such as:

TIGI - bedhead or curls rock
Frederic Fekkai
biolage/matrix

I just got a perm, and i really want to find some curl-defining products that fight frizz. Maybe you guys have some suggestions on what products i could use that are easier to find?

thank you sooo much!

I have natural curls, and I get my products either sent over, or when i'm in hong kong.. I've seen a few salons here that have ok products, but the ones you have mentioned I haven't seen here, and definitely not at watsons.. if you find them i'd be happy to know where!

I've seen bedhead at watsons for sure. Biolage/matrix sound very very familiar but I'm not 100% on it. I don't really know much about hair products but I was browsing around watsons a few days ago.

Maybe things have changed, about the haircare/cosmetics at Watsons, but a year or so ago there was a thread here complaining that even though brands might be the same, the quality was not the same as the same product in the US. Deodorant did not work at all for instance and actually made BO worse. Also, if you want high quality salon level products, chances are you won't find it at Watsons, which is a mass market consumer products store. Maybe I am wrong..but go eyes open.

That said.. there are Watsons all over.. HuaHai Lu near Ruijin Lu, JingAn temple next to the subway level, gotta be a couple around XuJia Hui.

I wasn't really aware of that. I don't buy much stuff there, but my girlfriend buys a lot of things from Watsons whenever she is visiting me in Shanghai and I've never heard any complaints about the quality.

Watons is absolutely everywhere...just keep an eye out for the blue sign.

If you really need higher end products, I guess just call the higher end salons...

Try Sephora at SuperBrandMall. Expensive but will have a much better quality than Watsons. They carry several Western brands but I've used their own brand before and it's also good quality.

I don't think Frederic Fekkai is in Shanghai yet as I always look for and in the end always have to stock up overseas.

But Bedhead and Biolage I've seen and bought at numerous hair salons around town. There is one on Donghu Lu near the Element Fresh there that sells bedhead...actually quite a few salons sell that one..

I was looking for hair products too, as my hair is really damaged. Just today, I was at thumb plaza in PuDong, and i saw this hair salon called Mentor Hair and in the window there were all these TIGI products - Bed Head, Catwalk, etc. I didnt go in and i dont know the exact address but i will try to get back to you soon!! EXCITING!!!

TIGI/Bedhead can be found most anywhere... just keep your eyes open when passing a salon.

If you are looking for high-end hair cair, you may want to try Kerastasse (it is a division of Loreal)... far superior to TIGI and can be found in Shanghai. Expect to pay about RMB350 for a conditioner and RMB250 for a shampoo. Worth it though.
