| Post subject: Advisable to bring a twin stroller for twins baby ? |
hi,
I'm bringing my 1 yr old twins to Shanghai. Is it advisable to use a twin stroller in Shanghai or stick to norm single pram. I know many places in Shanghai r not baby and stroller friendly. Any advise on gd ways to 'transport' the young kids around ?

I have a pair of twins too. Personal opinion is best to have single pram. Not all the escalators are wide or long enough i think it would be easier to move around in single prams |

We are using twin (front/back) for our 18mth & 2mth. Not advisable to drive a side by side one as Shanghai is not slope friendly. Remember China is built for small people, thus small entrances/exits/small elevator doors etc |

We have been in Shanghai for two weeks and brought our Peg Perego side-by-side stroller for our 3 and 1 year olds. It's fairly thin, but I would recommend a front-back double stroller. We can fit in many doors and stores, but it doesn't always fit down the sidewalks with posts, trees, etc in the way. A single pram may work for now, but you may want a double stroller for when the kids get bigger. We do a lot of walking and my 3-year-old is definitely better in a stroller. |

Have you checked Phil&Teds? Maybe worth checking, you can put to kids on P&T,but I've seen kids of different ages (so no twins). P&T is as small as single pram and folds/unfolds very easily. |

I too arrived with a double stroller (front/back) version and although seems bulky on some Shanghai streets, it brought piece of mind when it comes to moving about on the streets. You are better off getting two single strollers as well (so both parents can push the kids) Stick to "light and easy to fold" versions so you can fit them in back of taxis. If you plan to have a driver, guess you're one of the lucky ones. |

I had a side by side stroller for my twins. I used that for 6 months in shanghai untill when they were 1yr and 6 months old, then I changed. Too difficult to manage and the babies start to be heavy. so I recomend the single one. |

Thanks for the advices !! I used to have a front / back type but its so heavy to carry up the taxi and up the stairs is almost impossible as well. I guess single light weighted pram may be a better choice.
Do you rely your ayis to push the prams ? I'm so worried they may dash across the roads or safety unconcious. |

Seriously, you need to show them NOT to stick the baby out in traffic. I've seen this happen and it is amazing how clueless some of these ayis are. They think they can stick a baby out on the street but because they are not on the street themselves, they think they are out of harm's way. Anyways, just be sure to walk with them (even observe them at a distance) so that you can see how they are handling a stroller. |

My ayi broke my new Maclaren just by going onto escalator! I try to handle my baby myself when we're out unless we're indoors.
The reason I chose Maclaren was because it's lightweight, easy to handle but not so good on rough pavement for example going through corn block areas. Road condition in shanghai although is already a lot better than other countries, is not very baby friendly yet. I don't see a lot of Bugaboo, BOB..the big, sturdy types around the street very often, or even in the malls...I guess they're not very convenient to bring around. |
