samcy, I went there yesterday night for dinner and found the restaurant closed. It looks like they're gutting it for a sushi restaurant. Do you know where the Bak Kut Teh Restaurant / Kampung restaurant went? |

Wow. What a sad story. Good restaurant closed down.
The last time I patronised was early this year. In fact the owner was intending to sell the business. HE said he is too tired.
I guess the lease is up.
Let me check with my contact to see whether they have moved else where.
Sorry for those who made a fruitless trip there. |

I should clarify. Sorry, I think I may be getting restaurants confused. The restaurant that closed down is the one located in Metro Town or Metro City Mall, ground level just east of Cloud Nine Mall (across the street). Is that the one you're referring to Samcy? |

Just to strike out Prima Taste and Secret Recipe Gubei.
The chicken satay in PT tastes like KFC and the rendang is just beef chunks in santan.
The laksa soup at SR is diluted and needs a lot more chilli/santan.
So far only Orchard Rd CRC is acceptable tho the chicken for chicken rice was too oily. |

Was just wondering the same, saw My Place listed in the Sherpas catalog. Would love to hear from someone who has tried. Maybe I will try to wander down that way and check it out sometime next week.
Also heard of a good Malaysian place called Fusion near Hong Kong Plaza off HuaiHai Lu. Anyone tried that yet? |

went to my place last night. the white carrot cake was ok but not dry enough and also not salty enough. chicken rice can pass given that its only cny30, much cheaper than other places. hokkien noodles was also ok.
interesting to see that they had yam 'pot' there. a wall-like thing made of yam with chicken and cashew nuts in it. this dish is not so readily available even in spore. there is also fish head curry and ngoh hiang. may try this the next time.
cashier told me that the cooks are from mainland but were trained in spore. |

Here is another Singaporean restaurant which I tried out today - found it by chance and it has been there for 4 years. We arrived about 6pm and it was not so busy but as we were eating the restaurant was packed with Singaporeans! It is on the 6th floor of City Center (Parkson in Hongqiao).
China Town Restaurant (Singapore) 牛车水
Unit 6-3 City Center of Shanghai
100 Zunyi Road
Tel: 62372686
Laksa was good, Nyonya Asam Fish Head was excellent, Nasi Lemak so-so not too much ingredients, Char-siu Siu Yuk rice - ok, Brocolli Scallop was good, Otak-otak - not good, Teh Tarik - good. Will definitely go back and try other stuff. Price is reasonable (Laksa RMB24). |

Tried Fusion? The one at Songshan Lu by Huaihai Lu?
They have Roti Kaya and Teh Tarik for afternoon tea.
There's another one...Orang3 at Yili Lu by HuangJing Chen Dao.
Just recently open: Nasi Lemak, Roti Kaya, Noodles...even Half-boiled egg.
It's in Gubei area.
Kicap manis....i never seen it in Shanghai. Alternatively, you might ask fellow Malaysian/Singaporean friends to get you some if they go back.
Recently, got some Chili Sauce(Kimball), Sambal Belacan, Minyak Kapak, Vicks Vaporub and few packs of Kopi Tongkat Ali. Hahahahhahaha |
