Serves everyone right going to these meat market gyms. I mean, what do you really expect to get from 3000 RMB a year?

Even 3000 rmb for meat market gyms doesn't mean the bloke next door should blow dry his testicles. Gosh, I can't imagine what the 300 rmb gym would be like..

I go to Jiao Tung running track.

I have to pay my friend, a qualified fitness instructor and kung fu guru, 150 kwai an hour, but I would gladly do that rather than go to one of these shiit house fitness clubs with locals picking their noses, shiiting in the showers, jerking each other off while blowdrying their nuts and showing each other how much weight they can lift. Health clubs my arse, it's about as unhealthy as you can get.

**** JAPAN!!

Taking a dump in the shower.

I mean, is there any possibility of caring LESS for your fellow gym goer?

Maybe shiatting and smearing it on the handles of the shower would be worse...

Jesus.

What would Tyler Durden do, I wonder.

And to think that sometimes I go to the swimming pool of my compound.

No wonder I stopped getting sick when I dropped the idea.

Gotta admit, hc, a lot of people in China can be pretty fucking self-centered, ignorant and / or dickheads.

Try getting on or off an elevator, or the freaking subway. Rolling Eyes

Yeah the lack of etiquette in the gym gets to me sometimes too. Not returning weights to racks and leaving them in all parts of the gym, leaving towels, jackets, water bottles etc on equipment they're not using, sitting around on equipment chatting with their mates, when I want a quick 1 hour workout it can really wear away my nerves sometimes.

Just went to the gym in my compound. brand new, and still mostly vacant so the gym has no one. Saw someone in the pool (50m) for the second time ever.

Mine too! I have never seen any of this type of activity and there is never more than 2 or 3 people there in the 5 months that I have been here. Most of the time it is empty. Haven't tried the pool yet but it too seldom has anyone there.

It's absolutely hilarious!

That is fcuking hysterical...a veritable nation of Mr. Beans.

But I can definitely see the logic in it. Should I be very worried?

You really need to be a rugby player for that. Especially People's Square during rush hour. They're like human pinballs (or maybe pinheads). Not a sport for the elderly or feeble.

I love living in China but the one thing that never ceases to amaze me is the Chinese complete lack of consideration for fellow human beings.

Whether it be shaving a second off travelling time or a saving a penny on a business deal, if it is one iota to his advantage the chinese man will do it even if it inconveniences a thousand others.

In the city I live in outside shanghai, the whole city of 6m people was under smog for a whole week last week after the farmers decided it was time to burn back their stubble. Some peasant probably saved himself $100 by doing this but managed to really piss off 6m people in the process.

Maybe it was a burnoff of a different kind. A couple of those bushy ladies in the changeroom blow drying their snatches. Got a bit close, caught fire.

But I see more chinese people who offer their seats to older people than I do in Stockholm.

anyway, back to gym topic. I have NEVER seen what you guys describe, that is absolutely CRAZY, may I ask what gym is that??? must be some seriously shitty ones. because at my gym it seems to be rather well educated people, a bit selfish of course, but i dont think they would EVER do what you guys described, that's OUTRAGEOUS!!!

a few weeks ago at physical, a dude who was working out with a trainer suddenly vomited loudly mid-crunch. just rolled over, got on all fours and let it rip bigtime.
nobody paid it any attention. nobody missed a rep or even looked over except me.
after emptying his stomach, he got up and wiped his mouth with his shirt, smiled and said something to the trainer and then left. the trainer went to go find an ayi. people stepped around a sprawling pool of vomit in the middle of the gym for a few minutes before it was cleaned up: mopped up with the same dirty mop used for the rest of that disgusting hole.

no big deal.
