My God, and I thought the U.S. talked out of both sides of their mouth.
NEVER ceases to amaze me just how much bullshite, double talk, double standards and corruption there is in almost every layer of life here.
And the lack of incentive to change here is what again, oh yeah I forgot, apathy and greed.
Some times I absolutely hate it here. |

He's just mad because Chinese Customs are inconsistent lying POS.
Pick a 'banned' product and you can find 50 manufacturers and thousands of distributors here.
Fcuk, even Toys-R-Us in SBM is selling 'highly illegal' things these days.
Give me a break. |

There is a program on here called ’Border Patrol' about Australian Customs, it features a rather than normal average selection of Asian folk getting caught trying to either bring in or take out illegal goodies. The usual refrain is 'you are just picking on me because I am Japanese/Chinese/or whatever'.
The other night it featured some Japanese who were trying to mail live lizards out of the country in socks..
Bit of redress for you FuqMii... |

The last time I saw Border Security, the custom officers were picking on an old couple who had returned from a holiday in Europe and had forgot to declare that they had bananas with them. It was their first time overseas in a few decades and the officers appeared a bit too harsh. |

Those dogs they have are sharp. When we flew back from Singapore the other week, Mrs SC suddenly remembered (just as we were landing) she had an apple in her bag. So she scoffed it. The dogs still picked up the lingering scent though.
From what I have seen and experienced the Asian folk flying into Aus are targetted at a higher level than non Asian. I guess that is down to experience by the Customs people from their finding of food and other Chinese goodies.
We are planning to have Mrs SC's parents visit at the end of the year and we will have to brief them not to bring anything in the way of food etc, plus not to bag any of their left over in flight meals. |

Same in Pudong though....Traditionally when Mrs P1ATL10 come back from Thailand, I carry all the food in my bag. We split up and she goes through first. Even with a US Passport she gets pulled for inspection about half the time. Looks Asian and not Chinese.
Me?...In the past I would sail through.
Not sure about now though with the increased inspections....sounds like they are much more vigilant now about making sure I do not build a M-16 rifle out of Thai Noodles I sneak into China. |

That double talk is called Confucianism. Mao tried to eradicate it but then Deng "Greed is Good" Xiaoping gave up the fight. Western media keep praising it and China has named its overseas cultural promotion apparatus "Confucisus Institutes"... An uphill battle, my friend. |
