There are lots of tube amps available here, generally at better prices than in the US or Europe. However, tube amps are usually very good, and with any decent speakers hooked up to one you will hear how bad compressed music can sound.
If you recording your songs in an un-compressed format you should be OK, but most of the time people record them highly compressed. You lose a lot of information that way, which is OK for most audio systems. But when you get a good system, you can tell. |

thanks for that
do you know of any shop that sells ones (like the Fat Man) with a nice looking Ipod dock.
I don't think he'd be happy with a mix and match set of different brands...he's a bit particular about that kind of thing and it's his 40th so want it to be nice.
Fat Man are made here but don't know if they are available but it doesn't have to be them |

i think what kp is saying is why play an iPod through a tube amplifier? It's a waste of money considering mp3s are a compressed format. You should play vinyl or cds through tubes.
i think the 4th floor of metro in XJH has a large selection....... |

Tube amp doesn't exactly mean pure crystal clear sound. The appeal of a tube amp is a "supposedly" warmer and softer sound. |

looks very nice!
where can i get them in Shanghai?
I must admit that i don't know anything about HiFi so am ignorant on these matters. I looked in his Browsing history to see what he had been looking at and found the Fat-Man things and they have good reviews and are made in China (but may well not be on sale here)...
But this looks very suitable
can i get it here? |

Baoshan Lu. Store #110 in the electonics market. Sells Yarland IPOD -amplifier with EL84 (a tube) on the final with cute wooden-frame speakers for about 1200 Rmb a set. Boughed two sets for gifts. |
