Post subject: child support in china?

I don't understand how it works in China, I hear that alot of Chinese people don't use condoms and get a lot of abortions, however if a girl decides not to get an abortion and to have the kid is she a single parent with no help? or does the government force them to have child support and all that(i doubt this) I was just wondering what the situation is.

Not sure, but I think that if a single girl gets pregnant, she will be forced to have an abortion. Not physically forced (i think) but she will lose her job, the child would not have any rights, etc so it will be very very difficult for her to take care of the child.

I met one girl in ChongQing many years ago (5-6 years) -- my chinese was not great back then and her english was poor, but she did tell me that she had a child by a married man -- that she had to run away and hide in the country side to avoid being forced into having an abortion, because she "didn't want to kill anybody" (her exact words). She seemed to be doing ok though (money wise) but at the time i met her, her daughter was already 10 years old -- might have been a lot tougher when she was a baby...
