Post subject: Anyone a member of MOB?

Just wonder how much they charge and if they're any good for expat. Hope they're not too "local"

Is it true Fitness First is closed? I used to be a member there.

Yes, Fitness First has closed down. There are 2 MOB's in SH, one at Xinhua rd and one at Xinzha rd. The latter one is a bit bigger and nicer looking and is the one I joined after FF closed down. I paid 3000 RMB per year, including the use of the swimming-pool. The few times I've been there it has been really quiet. Not as up-market as FF, but sufficient for what I do, which is basically weight-training. also tons of threadmills etc. that are always available.

Thanks for the reply. I'm kinda interested in the one at Xinzha Lu. It'll be great if someone knows the approximate price so I know what I'm walking into. 3000 sounds reasonable although at the time I paid 3600 for Fitness First, I'm hoping MOB has some classes but as long as it's not as packed, it'll be fine. I'm assuming it's not because it's not in major office building.

Just want to give an update. I did go to MOB at Xinzha Lu over the weekend and was informed that they're raising their price starting July 1st. The current list price is 4800 but thanks to the info above they're willing to give it to me for 3000 if I sign up. I'm having second thought, though....although it's convenient I'm not sure about its quality.
