| Post subject: Car from PVG airport |
Hi,
I need a car to pick my wife, my son, me and our luggage next week when we arrive in PVG. I would love a guy (or girl) to stand at the barriers with my name on a piece of paper, help carry our bags to the very nice car and drive us all to Pudong just near JinMao tower.
Can anyone recommend any company that does this and the approximate cost? I will arrive on a week day evening.
Many thanks |

It's normally about 200 for an airport pick up from Pudong. I know several people who do his but not sure about standing at the barrier part, usually I just call when I arrive. |

no worries about the barrier part. If it is easy to get to the carpark and meet them then that would be cool. Could you PM some details? Cheers. |

Call your hotel. they will send a car and a bellman in uniform ....Your name on a sign and a nice car.....If you're on a budget take a cab or better then a cab take a Bus...If you want the whole nine yards you might pay 3 or 400 rmbs |

I always use this type of black car ( that's what they call in chinese ), but we're not located in Shanghai. Usually you can request them to stand in the waiting place and get your name printed out but since they have to park the car, they might charge you extra for the parking fee.
You can check legal car rental company and see how much they charge for that. Sorry no info about Shanghai cars. |

cheers all. I now live in Shanghai so won't be staying in a hotel. By the sounds of it a Black Car service is what I need. Chingis, I speak some Chinese but not that great but if I can find the guy the rest I can handle. If I can pre-arrange where to meet him that the arrangement would work... |

Check you PM Dan, I am sending you my regular van driver's info. He used to be a Dazhong Fleet Driver, (before that he was one of my factory GM's personal driver) now drives a Hyundai Exec van (his own) for his own clientele. I trust him enough to pick up my son from the airport regularly so... |

To avoid any potential trouble, better to choose a company car and driver rather than a personal car. Email: maofeng.car@gmail.com for more details. |

If you don't have too much luggage, take the MagLev to LongYuan Rd, then grab a cab.... At 300 k/p/h the trip takes 8 minutes, and is a cool for the kids.... 50 rmb per person |

Perhaps offer to help him with some English lessons from English First, and offer to arrange a tour of the UK for a very reasonable fee. |

You can actually call Dazhong Taxi to arrange for airport pickup by a regular taxi or van. I've done that a few times. Their drivers are quite reliable and will carry a sign with your name on it at the exit point, especially if you give them your English name. You can call Dazhong's number in Shanghai +86 (021) 96822 or +86 (021) 68346941 and tell them your flight info and destination address. Clerks on the phone can handle English ok. The driver usually speaks no or little English but gets from the office a sign with your name and a slip with your address on it. Also, the Dazhong taxis would normally charge by meter if you arrive during the day. Last time I ordered a van and was charged about RMB250 flat fee for a midnight trip from PVG to Puxi. The van was big enough to hold a snowboard, a pair of skis and all the snow wear (boots, jackets, etc.) for two big people! It's still so much cheaper than a hotel car. |

The dazhong Taxi was a good tip. THANKS! By the way, to puxi, it was a 200 rmb flat rate plus 10 rmb/hr. They said it would be between 210 and 220 to near zhongshan park where i live (van/mianbaoche). They will also have the driver wait at the exit with a sign. Down side for expats is that noone spoke english so either learn some chinese or get a friend/pa to help. |

I always use Mr Qi. He has a brand new Buick van, with leather seats, A/C, seats 6, and he charges 170 RMB one-way to/from Pudong. You can also book him for 500 RMB for a day (10 hours, up to 150 km) -- it's a little more expensive than the companies, but the quality of van and service is worth it. He doesn't speak English, so if you have a Chiense friend to help you book him, he's honest and reliable. His number is 13122469213 |
