Thanks, guys.

Most hostels got really bad reviews, would like some feedbacks from those who care to share their experience.

Any recommendations for 1-2 months' stay besides hostels?

I am not sure about hostels, but I seem to remember reading a sign at Rent A Room saying they do long term stays. It was a great place, I will certainly use it again. It is about 50 metres from the subway station, and has plently of restaurants nearby (but then again most places in Hong Kong meet those criteria!)......It was reasonably quiet as well, and spotlessly clean.

Some hotels like YMCA Wesley may do good deals on longstays.

I am not sure if it is called Wesley, but I stayed at a YMCA in mid level Hong Kong side. I was there for just over a month, and the rent was HK6000+ for the month. The room was very small, but clean, had a TV and a very narrow single bed. The room was cleaned twice a week. It was quite far from any Metro stations, and it was a long hike back up to the place, eventhough HK has this elavator going up to the mid-level area. Security was good. It was a no-thrill type of place!

By the way, they only do long term renting, and I believe they also have rooms for two people - with 2 beds.

clc, what dates are you planning on staying? and do you have a preference on where you want to stay in hk? close to the city centre? or a little far away? do you want tall buildings around you? or do you want a bit of peace and quite?

Plan on going around Nov/Dec; wish I could stay in YMCA Salisbury but the daily rate is ~120USD. Just need a clean room with internet included. Tall buildings do not bother me; afterall it's HK and I only stay for a month. ... I know it's going to be very different from the suburban life here in northern California.

473 ganbi (about 400 RMB/day) at North Point Hotel (close of North Point MTR station).
I'm find this place is very nice and clear, good furnished, rooms a little small. Good veiw to Victoria Harbour.

Hehe. I've often heard the stories/rumours of rats at the place, but thought it was probably just one of those old urban legends, until a mate stayed there recently and said he had the biggest rat he's seen in his life camped out right underneath his bed.

Stay away from Chung King Mansion full stop. It's not only dirty but also full of drug dealers and prostitutes. Security is bad.
