| Post subject: Girlfriend's birthday... Nice restaurant recommendation ??? |
Hi,
Girlfriend has her birthday tomorrow. We were initially planning for a nice dinner at Pane & Vino, but I'd like to find something little bit more original/nice to bring her.
Any recommendation of place I could bring her tomorrow night (Puxi side/French consession if possible) ???
Price is not really an issue
Cheers |

Have you tried El Willy yet? It's a nice place and definitely smart enough for an occasion.

Roomtwentyeight at the URBN hotel is very very romantic and nice -- but the food is not that good, nor do they offer a lot of choices. |

If price is no object then the best restaurant in the city is Jade on 36 @ Pudong Shangri-La. Reckon on about 2-3,000 for the two of you including drinks for an incredible meal with an incredible view. |

We already did Jade on 36 (you can actually end up for less that 1500Rmb for 2 if you don't take wine... We had 2 martinis each instead). I agree it's a great place, service is perfect and the view is stunning !!!
Concerning the food, she is not fussy. Like European, Asian, Chinese... |

Otto is really nice, Julu Lu / Fumin Lu- very well cooked European bistro type food, nice environment. For desert you can have a trio of creme bruleearghagghghgh.
Laris is good too, right on the Bund- lots of martinis to chose from as well.
Oh and the terrace at the Mansion Hotel if it's a nice evening http://shanghaiist.com/2008/05/07/mansion_hotel_v.php- you can get a cocktail from Constellation afterwards. |

Yeah, great views.....I am actually holding a pair of binoculars from my 29th floor Apt. looking at Pearl T.........and is that Shangril-La ? OK, I saw the words on the top. Then it must be !! I've never been there, but can sense its all about pomps and grandy....May be go there for the "atmosphere" .......but no no food....art people is crazy.....
PS I miss all the great food back in China Town US, but I can't find one worthy in SH recommend one for me as birthday is actually tomorrow ??? |

There is this nice chinese restaurant, no views or anything, food is normal, but the restaurant is unique. It's called Qiong 6, don't know if you heard of it. |

you are correct sir- actually that's their advertising slogan
"Jade on 36: All about pomps and grandy"
the food's amazing though, art people or not. |

^ Food is crap, not a great selection
Where in the description "Romantic Meal" does it contain a subliminal message stating:
"Crap food would be a bonus, cos that'll really please the missus"

El Wahj, (Facebar group) it's next to Pane e Vino.
Good for romantic dinner. They serve Maroccan food |
