yeah, no ones going to allow a stranger in at the moment after some of the things that have been happening in the past month or so.

Be careful at the moment everyone. Especially in open places like bars and restaurants.

police are cracking down on us rascally foreigners. Gambling etc.. is illegal, technically.

Bubbas is ok, but i'd refrain from playing in games that are in the open, such as Spot.

^ I've always wondered about that. If gambling is illegal then how can people openly play in some bars? Seems nuts to me.

The Mrs checked up on all this for me.

Basically the rules are as follows.

1 - The venue cannot make a profit on it.

2 - The total prizes must be under 5000rmb.

3 - Cannot have more than 20 people in any one game.

Technically, most games get under that, but i still wouldn't want to be doing it in public.

Ya the spot has its game right in front of the window! Not the best place to get pocket rockets.

I am in Wuxi now and I'll be coming back this afternoon, anyone know of any games tonight please shoot me an email or pm me. I would greatly appreciate it, ya don't really want to go to public games that draws so much attention like spot's, just a lively home game/ private game will do, thanks guys! my email is listed above.

Counterfeit goods and those barbershop girls are also illegal.

True...but there would be mass uprisings and economic collapse if you took those 2 away. China could survive without poker.

The spot hasn't had games for a while now, or at least as far as I've noticed.

Typical practice here is that there is no money on the table, just chips.
So if police do raid, people are playing for "fun".

But yeah, I'd also be careful what you do publically in todays climate.
Given the upcoming olympics, and the excessive security and precautions, you don't want to do something to offend our gracious hosts, especially for all of you on F visa's and all (*ducks*).

I think if the money is off the table, it's fine. Apparently.

I do stand corrected, I watched the game at Spot last night, too many people, so couldn't join in. Mind you, I only got there at about 12:30.

I've been to Spot a bunch of times this month and not seen the Poker game, I must be blind or something. Next week bwahahaha.

100 RMB to the first person that can give me two independent addresses (in Shanghai) that carry poker chip sets.

Carrefour does not.

Why not just buy 5-6 canisters of different varieties of Pringles or Lays and use those?

Then you could lick 'em to check the denomination...
