Post subject: not sleeping on friday night

Where would I have to go out in Shanghai, to avoid having to take a hotel room when coming to Shanghai on a friday night? Instead of spending that money on the room I figure I could just spend it on drinks and party all night... Any recommendations?

That sounds hard core. Best of luck with that plan.

My friends did that oce or twice. Started out at all you can eat Japanese which included all you can DRINK too. That lasted until midnight or so when we got kicked out, then we headed to a karaoke place and sang guns and roses and stuff until like 2 or 3, drinking more along the way and finally I went home and crashed and they went to eat at bifeng tang until around 5am when that place closed. they walked aroun and found a pool hall and played pool for 2 more hours before heading off to breakfast.

Personally, i'd start with dinner and drinks, then a foot massage and a full body massage, and then just find a late night club or something and party until dawn, do the food thing (many cheap 24 hours chinese joints) And if that doesnt work, finda sauna that will let you crash for cheaper.

This advise seems very sensible and it is a very tempting option...
but I kinda changed plans by now.
Seems to be sort of "murphie's law" when you don't have a place to sleep the party always really sucks and you're bored and tired and spend a miserable night. When you check in the hotel and arrange everything, you have the best night out and don't even think about sleeping.
So, what the f***, I'll go for the latter.
