Post subject: What's Wrong With The British Bulldog Pub?

Lastly I hit the British Bulldog Pub on Urumuqi Rd and found that there wasn't even a spot in that pub, big chunks of chaps and hotties lined up outside the evtrance as if they were spilling out onto the street. I just can't help wondering how possibly could the outsiders get lined in and have fun inside within that short time length up from evening to midnight?

Someone tell me how could you deal with that situation if you want to jostle in?

the British Bulldog is no more. You mean the new Bulldog Shanghai? You probably caught them on their grand opening night, find a quieter night and you should be fine. But dont be surprised by its new Yankee flair.

The question you have to ask yourself is what IS right with the British?

I've only been there once. Not my cuppa tea, guv. Not into theme pubs. They're wank at home and wank everywhere else.

Now that I have recovered from that stinging rebuke from gabriel76.

Was at the opener. Nice enough place. but...they can call it the Bulldog if they want. but the decorations and them is still The "British Bulldog. Sign is still over the door in fact.

Other knock IMO is the location. Bit away from anywhere.

It's near M-Factory which is hilarious and that kebab joint. And just over the road is some other stuff. So it ain't all bad. Pity the Bulldog sucks ass.

Yeah, what were they thinking. Right smack in the middle of the French Concession? Who can be bothered.

Band not there anymore?

I like what they've done to the joint, however, it's a bit claustrophobic on the ground floor now.

huh? Band were there when I went last week? Did you just happen to walk in Sat night during all the football/rugby - I could understand if the band wasn't there then.

I actually really like the place now.

Was there last night..

Band is still there..

Food was good..

Beers were nice and cold, as well as 2 for 1 all night every night..

3 different sports feeds...

People can rip it all they want.. I would suggest that going to the Bamboo for a 70rmb pint.. or Malones for a 50rmb pint while kicking it with the hags would be a less wise option than the Bulldog at this present time.

The worst thing about the Bulldog is it's name.. what a shitter.. but everything else isn't bad at all.

Everything as far as I'm aware.. but then I've only ordered beers before..

50 for a carlsberg so really 25 each

60 for a Hieneken therefore 30 each

You'll have to check with them directly if that applies to spirits & wines etc

It's 1.5 for 1 on Guinness (and maybe Stella?) but other than that I think it's 2 for 1 on everything.

Good prices, good deal- I just always tend to go the other way down Dong Ping towards the Beaver and Abbey Road. Maybe this weekend though.

Isn't it right next to O'Malleys and that Hofbrauhaus? Feels out of the way but it's an easy walk from Sasha's etc.

Yes, it's in Wulumuqi lu, at the end of Taojiang lu.
Since two weeks, the band is "on stand-by" almost all the time, because "we are not allowed to play during important football matches"
But the beer is fantastic. They have Duvel, Hoegaarden, Geuze Lambik...and the prices are very reasonable.
