| Post subject: Enough expat women in Shanghai?S |
So I'm considering moving to Asia in the next 6 to 12 months and I'm investigating various cities.
As a 20-something male I need to consider my sex/relationship life as well.
Here in the UK I enjoy meeting different kinds of women, I like to keep everything casual and don't enter into exclusive relationships.
I have 2 questions:
1. Are there enough ex-pat women between 18 and 30 for me to meet? The great thing about living in London is the amount of women I can meet in shops, bars, clubs etc. Will I feel wanting for choice in Shanghai?
2. I guess I could meet local women as well. How do they view casual relationships, sex and dating. When I visited SE Asia I avoided all local women because I felt they were really looking for deep romantic love or my (meagre amount of) money.
This might seem prejudiced but 95% of the Asian women that I've hooked up (or tried) with have been really hard work, and looking for some kind of romantic hero / provider man that they can fall in love with.
Is there scope for my kind of lifestyle or would I be better off in Honk Kong, Singapore or Bangkok. |

Bangkok, you'd probably be paying for sex. Hong Kong... not so much. Plus there are loads of whities there. No idea about Singapore.

That one made me think. Based on my experience, it the other way round, the sentence above would apply to Western women, not at all to Asian ones. |

Sluts? Not at all. You misunderstood me. I met Asian women who were all (almost, say 95%) rather independent clever highly educated women - certainly not hopelessly looking for a "hero" or "provider" as in the sentence above. Learn to read, btw. |

True, unlike the typical whie-trash men here, I meet girl in normal daily situation, which is work, or lunch-breaks etc in business areas. Not in bars or whorehouses. |

Hey guys, once again. It's difficult to ask specific question at this point as I'm still doing research.
I'm not considering Asia to get laid or to find a wife or anything like that.
Although I'm not good looking or anything I have no trouble meeting women over here as I actually have a pair of balls and enjoy striking up conversation with women in all kinds of situations (including broad day light) without the aid of alcohol.
I'd like to think I'm honest and a straight forward kind of guy and I'm not interested in playing games. I'm just wondering if my way of doing things would be met with a lot of resistance in Asia. When I travelled around SE Asia I did not mind socialising with the locals but avoided hooking up with them as the Western travellers were more in my headspace (Why anyone needs to pay for sex in SE Asia when there are thousands of Swedish backpackers all over the place is beyond my understanding). |

Question 1 - Yes.
Question 2 - Trickier, but not impossible. But you will have to muck through a lot of what you aren't seeking unless you happen to hit the jackpot. And if you do find the perfect casual partner, she will probably be a 'keeper' who won't have you.

Hit or miss. Depends where you are in town... some may be shocked, others flattered while another segment may have no clue of how to react. Thats the good thing about Shanghai... millions upon millions of people and an ever-increasing expat culture... if at once you don't succeed, try, try again.
In all honesty, you will probably spend more time fending off advances of bar girls than worrying about technique. Shanghai is an easy town, it all depends on what you put into it. |

Expat women are usually older and "not available" (i.e. married with kids)
You need to look to locals (Chinese girls) for 'dating' as they will probably be your best bet statistically speaking. |

SnappySammy: If women were the only focus of my life, I'd go to Sweden or Denmark.
But that's not the point. So I'm investigating different options. I've lived in a few different countries and cities so I know there is a difference in type of women and dating / sex / relationship culture. |

Well, let me put it simply.
Dating: The guy pays and you're typically not going to get anything afterward.
Sex: Women typically aren't as slutty here as in the west, and a few dates is not going to get you anything from most. Barbershops (brothels) are small and widely available. I'm sure someone can go into more detail on that, in regards to price and services...
Relationship culture: Women typically date for marriage. If you're dating a young one, 18-24, they won't be too worried about getting married right away. However if you're dating someone 25 or older... you can expect they won't want to waste time (and that still doesn't mean you're going to get anything). Most of them will want their parents approval, as they likely live with their parents, and getting that as a foreigner is not easy. |

5 years ago, I thought that marriage could help me to get some romance in that moment, but now, I don't think it is mature to marry with person which you never know him seriously and personally for wit for fool, so people should uunderstand or realise what they really want for selves when they date or relate with their girls or boys in town~~ |
