an Expat looking for an EXPAT meeting to discuss issues of being foreign and living and working here rather than a local looking to take advantage of foreigners

On the odd occasion this has happened in my office I have just pushed them out the door politely and instructed my PA to re book them at some other time when they are not busy, hint, hint, and got on with my work uninterupted. I might be arrogant but if some one wants my time and I agree, then I expect their time also. Doesn't work socially off course and nor would I expect it too.

Post subject: Re: how do you cope with noise here?

insurance agent came into the office to get papers signed. didn't bring enough forms. it was just the 2 of us in the office. we had to wait for her office to fax it over.

her phone rang. she stood in the middle of the office and yakked away. it was loud and her conversation was something that could have waited. nobody in the office said a thing about the noise.

i tried to tolerate it for a while. i didnt work. i hinted to the girl who was seated right in front of her. she was busy listening. i spoke briefly to the office administrator whom she was dealing with - but to no avail. the entire office was silent while she yakked away on the phone. one call after another.

i dont get it. why are we so afraid of her? who is she to come into the office and just talked away? she could have walked into the conference room where she had her stuff but NO..... she had to talk for all to hear. i finally told her that we were leaving the office and she had better hang up.

i am so angry at this. are the locals tolerating or just not bothered by it all? this is so rude !

am i being over reacting? it has been 2 hours and i am still worked up about it.

if there is one thing i hate here is the noise. how does everyone else put up with?
