Post subject: Does anyone know where to study Wing Chun?

I want to study Wing Chun (beginner). Does anyone know where to study? Or a teacher who gives private 5-6 people class is good too. Close to Jing'an area or on metro line 2 would be better.

Thank you!

I think it's better for you to find some private class by some real great master.instead of wasting time to learn some sports art.
I don't know where u can find wingchun in shanghai, but if you wanna find something like tongbei, taiji, bagua, xingyi, xinyi. Then I can tell u where to find them.
good luck.

Post subject: Wing Chun in Shanghai

There are onlly 2 Wing Chun Schools in the Shanghai area. One is Peter's Wing Chun. You could do a google search for it or follow the link in an above post. The other is at Long Wu Wushu / Kung Fu school.

Peter's Wing Chun school is of the Yip Man / Wong Shun Leung Lineage. They are very good and have a solid foundation and lots of techniques to learn. They operate 3 times a week - I think - Tues, Thurs and Sat. near Yan An Xi Lu / Pan Yu Lu.

The other school is of the Cheung Bo lineage (I think) of Foshan. They concentrate a bit less on the center line but have a bunch of techniques also. They operate about 2 times a week.

One other option is to practice with me for free. I'm not a teacher but I can show you the basics then you can upgrade.

S_dew,

I've trained with Peter for quite a while now...as well as traiing in ohter countries. Your welcome to come and train with us anytime. Peter is back in LA unitl the start of October, but a group of us meet informally to continue our training when we have available time.

Peters school is easy going, we train 3 times a week, private classes avavilble if you like more tution - no belts, no hidden costs, no bullsh*t - just training for "functional" martial art.

If you want the whole crouching tiger hidden dragon experience, then we're probably not your thing.

Cheers

Agree! I found some Wing Chun classes on internet. However, they looked to me like just like classes cared more about the profit than how much you'd really learn. I do want a real good master who gives small classes. Hard to find though.

yes,it's not a lot real good master.lucky I got one for internal martial art.My master know wingchun, but he didn't teach me a lot about it,because he think internal martial art are better.
but if you are basic level,I suggest you could practise wingchun foundation first, until you find a real good master.but wing chun foundation got lots of details, you have catch all details with your body, otherwise it's nothing.good luck man.
