Semi-Speed Dating at Starbucks XuJiaHui
Who: 24 SINGLE men & women, ages 22-35
When: Thursday or Friday, August 21 or 22
Where: Starbucks, 3F of MetroCity, XuJiaHui
Format: 5 minutes per person
Details:
-NO COST, NO TRICKS.
-I've been trying to find a good place to meet people in a (relatively) quiet environment where you can actually talk, so here it is. I've never done this before, but I have coordinated a lot of group events, so let's have some fun together! My goal is simple: for single people to meet and
-bring (single) friends
-check the box next to the name of someone you are interested in. If two people are mutually interested in eachother, I will email each person with the contact details. Simple enough!

Nathalie: You have a great point. To be honest, we can do ANY format, I really don't care. I just want to get people together to meet and have great conversations. It all depends on the people who want to attend the event, right?
On another note, the person who posted before Nathalie had another great point. How do we control the age? We could require identifications, but that is just bad style. I guess we'll have to depend on people being HONEST. |

^^ That's a good point.
I guess the event organizer should book a conference room or sth like that.
Let me know if this pushes through: I'd be interested to meet new activity partners. Real activities, that is.
If you'd need some help organizing, I might be able to extend a hand. Just let me know.

I understand why people are posting concerns, but let's keep this simple!

However, does it matter if random people want to attend if they are single and between the ages of 22 and 35? If we have a more relaxed format (rather than 5-minute speed dating) where people can mix & mingle as they please, then the more the better--more guys and gals to choose from! The important thing here is what YOU want, so please email me with you thoughts and suggestions at jjselleck@gmail.com.
Littlemonk & aLeGna: Thank you both for offering your help! There are no conference rooms at this Starbucks, but the location is very big and it has places to sit both outside and inside. I will coordinate with the manager to make arrangements for us.
As a teacher with EF at XuJiaHui, part of my job is to facilitate group events...everything will flow fine. So, please, relax a little about the format and just come to have fun.

wow, this event has got a wonderful theme but hard for me to try...
I m not heading for a relationship like that.
it is much at ease you can get to know each other and expand your networking
and get socialized.....
You don't hurry for a date right?
anyway, it is an interesting thing....
if there is a chance nearby,why not approach |

I think of this event as a social thing, y'know... not exactly "dating" per se. But I'm not totally discounting the possibility of the latter. hehehe... |

Isn't it summer in Shanghai? You know how they have English corners in parks in Shanghai such as Ren Ming Gong Yuan... Why not find a corner in a park and call it the Singles corner? BYO... |
