Post subject: Putuo Island-surfing?

My husband and I are new to Shanghai. We are both from California and like to surf. Some friendly face in the airport on our way in to SH noticed our surfboards and mentioned that there's surf on Putuo Island. Does anyone know if it's true? We'd love to find someplace relatively close to get in some waves (even if they're tiny!)

Your post is straight off of wannasurf.com

The only hope for surf in China is typhoon swells. Check the satellite images and head directly to the typhoon's path!

um thanks, for the thanks, actually my post is not taken directly from wannasurf.com. i edited it, and used other sources too... and there are some sights that do offer surf in China... irrespective of typhoons, although it certainly is not like the coastline of OZ, where there seems to be swell of varying descriptions all the way round the coastline from my experiences there.

^^ If you want to surf wind slop then yes, "there are some sights that do offer surf in China... irrespective of typhoons"

I only surf real waves which, unfortunately, only come to this part of the Pacific when there's a typhoon Smile
