| Post subject: gluten intolerant toddler?? |
My one year old started with diarrhoea about three wekks ago. Disgustlingly stinky full of unidgested foods. he was so sad, crying all the time, and he lost a lot of weight, except for his tummy which was (and still is) huge. we eat pretty well at home, homemade wholemeal bread, lots of veggies and legumes etc.. Anyway, I took him to a donctor, who just gave him antibiotics. During that time I also stopped giving him wheat, he seemed a lot happier but I wasn't sure if it was the drugs or the diet.
So a week later he seemed fine, I started him back on the wheat, after three days the poo has returned, he's gettin crankier and his tummy is so big.
I think I may be onto something with the no wheat thing.
My question is: Does anyone know any doctor who has experience with this type of thing in Shanghai? I can't find anyone so far.
In the meantime I'm cutting out all of the wheat to see what happens.
Thank you so much. |

You are definitely on to something with the wheat. Try oats instead, they are low allergy or barley. I had the same problem with my youngest. He also broke out in a rash. So, ditch the wheat for a while. After about 6 months I tried again and he had no problems. Some people recommend starting high allergen foods slowly and one at a time (try it for a week) to see if there is a reaction. You can get some gluten free organic mixes from City Shopper. |

And i know there is an allergy group in Shanghai, you might get more information there. Just google it, i think it is called Shanghai Food Allergies or something like that. |
