Girls have played with us before & are welcome. It is usually a bit of a sausage festival though (if you catch my meaning).

Regardless of gender, we try and balance out the sides as much as possible according to size & skill. If possible, try and bring a friend with similar skills/size to make matching up easier.

hi guys, I just want to tell a bad experience which happened in Xujiahui bball park.IN august 2005 i expected to play some bball there and i thought i could ask some guys to play with them.Well when i arived there i found a team which was looking for a player. But after 1 game (and losing the game) my teammates escaped without saying anything Razz

I think this is the chinese way to escape when they see some good players against them!!! Well i just want to advice you all that at first find your own team and then go to play baskteball.Hope to find some teammates in summer 2006 Smile

hi guys, like u to know if u guys manage to get any regular game going coz i like to join..

i know they rent out basketball courts at pudong stadium at rmb 15 for half court per hour.. open till late 10pm i think..

also there are asa whom is organizing weekly evening games at puxi for the exprats.. charging rmb 30 per pax..

pls let me know if u guys are playing..

Are there any rules about playing at a school? I live near one and would like to play after hours. South and west of gubei if anyone wants to join.

I heard there is a nike park on nanjing road nearby Plaza 66 where you can play basketball. How is it there? is it a good place to play pick-up games?

I REALLY WANT TO PLAY!!!
6'2", 185 pounds, played basketball in in high school (10 kids on the team out of 4000) students, and I played a lot in college, just not for my school. I played on a traveling team though and we won some tournaments in Dallas, Texas, USA.

I live in XuJiaHui and really want to play. My work is in XinTianDi, so I would love to play around there too. Send me a message or email if you want to hit the court. gkitt@smu.edu

Coming to Shanghai Aug. 5th and would love to play some ball while out there. I heard Xujiahui can get pretty packed, any other alternatives(indoor) in that area or groups that want to pick up a player? I'd say I'm decent as a player.

Also, don't really want to lug a pair of bball shoes over if I don't have to. How much would an OK pair of Nike bball shoes cost in USD and would I have trouble finding a sz 11 US?

While I'm at it, any gyms in that area also for lifting? How much would it cost to join for a month?

sz11 US will be a bit hard to find, since average size being sold in shanghai is 8 to 10 US.
Given the chance to scout around I would recommend 1. Foxtown above the Subway station of Line4 Shanghai Stadium, Exit1 or 2. Foxtown at SongJiang Area, they have a free shuttle during the weekend, pickup place/time 10.30am at Xujiahui subway station Exit 3..the exit that is nearest to the Catholic Church. Those are the places where i buy my rubber shoes, i wear sz 12 or 13 US

For Gym near Xujiahui, there is 1 called Physical..it occupies the upper floors of MEtro City (not sure english name) Meilongcheng. I dont have info on monthly rates, but annually its about 2000rmb (estimate).
