'We need to talk about Kevin' by Lionel Shriver; read it about 5 months ago and still cannot get the story out of my head it is sooooo disturbing! This is every mother's biggest nightmare and fear. I thought it was an excellent read even if the story is gruesome. Am now reading another book written by her: 'The Post birthday world'...it's turning out to be a damn good read as well! |

Pretty journalistic but gives one the basics on the current US dependence on coal and the likely future of the industry. Would recommend.
Moods for Future Joys
Made me reminisce, not bad for a second book. About a guy who spent 4 years cycling the around the world.
Into The Wild
Much better than the film, good investigative journalism.
The Ultramarathon Man
Enjoyed this a lot, semi-autobiographical about what makes this guy run.
am currently a third of the way into ChiRunning - about how tai chi works can be integrated with running to reduce injury. |

if you run its worth reading if you get the chance, if not, don't bother. |

Two Caravans by Marina Lewycka. It's a humorous look at the lives of immigrants in the UK. The 'Two Caravans' are the accommodation for a group of Poles, Ukrainians, Chinese and a Malawian working on a Kent strawberry farm.
Her first book A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian was also very enjoyable. |

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle - Murakami
A few of my colleagues use Amazon Kindle and love it. I've messed with it a few times and found no problems. Of course not all books are available and you don't get the same pretension points as a stacked bookshelf. |
