| Post subject: Kindergarten near Lanson Place |
Can anyone recommend a kindergarten within the walking distance from Lanson Place Jinlin Tiandi residence (near XinTianDi)? We will be moving to Shanghai later this year and our 3 year old is attending a bilingual daycare in New York City and she is fluent in both Mandarin and English. If possible, we want to send her to bilingual school in Shanghai.
Thanks! |

For anyone interests in this. There are three local kindergartens near XinTianDi (about 0.5 km); however, one is too small and the other two are full. As a compromise, we find another local (bilingual) kindergarten 1.8 km from XinTianDi. Its name is Kid Castle-Xujiahui Road Kindergarten. It has school bus. Each class has two teachers, one Chinese and one English. They seem to emphasize on *classes* and *learning* a lot; facility looks good; the place looks organized; has multimedia music room and computer room. Was told, "our 5-year olds can type their names in Chinese!"
Monthly school fee is about RMB2200.00; semester misc fee is about RMB500.00.
Disclaimer: since we won't move to Shanghai till November, we don't yet have first hand experience to tell from our 3-year old. Hope they don't emphasize too much learning but forget to let them have fun. |

Hi Suzy,
If I remember them correctly, these are the three close to XTD:
1. 开心果幼儿园 Kai Xing Guo Kindergarten (may be closest to XTD)
#238 Tai Cang Road(太仓路); Phone:63280742
2. 思南路幼儿园 Si Nan Road Kindergarten (may be the most well known one)
Main campus: #91, Si Nan Road (思南路); phone: 021-64731464
3. 大同幼儿园 Da Tong Kindergarten (the very small one)
#48 Nan Chang Road (南昌路); Phone: 021-63725355
If you can read Chinese, this link on Luwan Education website has all the local kindergartens in Luwan.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. |

Suzy,
If you can read Chinese, this is a better link:
http://www.lwedu.sh.cn/website/Detail.aspx?InfoGUID=675407da-6ad4-40f2 -81ed-3cfb557ba2f3
It is application procedure for all Luwan local kindergartens. Page 4 of document has names of all kindergartens and their contact numbers. I think for XTD, you want to "Huai Hai" kindergartens

Portsmouth, we are moving to shanghai next week from nyc and we will live in Lanson place. If you still live there, would love to meet up. Our daughter is 2, but loves older kids, so maybe we can have a playdate.
Not sure yet if i will put her in pre-school, but i am looking at bilingual programs b/c her daddy is chinese and she can understand mandarin and speak it a tiny bit. Thanks for your info, i will check it out.
Suzy, you too, if you are in the area, lets try to meet up in a couple weeks. |

Hi rtsbeacon,
Lanson Place has quite a number of families with little kids and may be 4~5 kids are close to 2 years old so your daughter will for sure have playmates. Some 2 year olds go to pre-schools and some are home with moms or ayis. Some attend classes at Gymboree nearby

Think the building is inviting tenants to a barbecue party on October 25th afternoon in the court yard and they will also organize “trick or treat” on Halloween Day. Looking forward to meeting you!
Please PM me if you need anything specific. |
