| Post subject: Dry cleaning in Puxi |
Could somebody recommend a really good dry-cleaning in Puxi (downtown area)? I don't want to risk a suit. Thanks a lot. |

good hotels don't always equal good laundry service....I had an expensive suit ruined at the laundries of the westin shanghai and the shangrila each. my compensation for the totally unusable suits?...a refund of the laundy bill. caveat emptor |

Damn, have you tried the one at Portman or you think it should be good? Unfortunately, I also had bad experiences in the past and would appreciate a good recommendation. |

Elephant King is good. Several branches all over. They collect and deliver. |

I've also used Elephant King and they do a pretty good job and are careful about making sure they can clean it in advance. Otherwise, they will not dry clean it for you. They also have good rates if you buy the VIP cards... 1000 RMB gives you a 50% discount.... Which is a really good deal but only if you have alot of clothing to dry clean or it will last you a long time. I had one jacket that they would not take because they were not sure if they might ruin it so then I took it to the cleaners at the Portman and they did a good job with it. If you want to be extra careful I would take the suit to the Portman cleaners... Elephant King is good for everyday stuff though and must say have never had anything ruined by them. |

Hey, I need to have my coat dry cleaned. I'm not so worried about it being ruined. It has duck feather stuffing. I would just toss it in the washing machine, but it fills up like a waterbed, and its so well insulated that it can be trouble getting all that water out. How much should I expect to pay at a normal dry cleaner. |

GKO5 & shanghai8, this is the URL for the Elephant King website http://www.xiangwang.com.cn/. It's in Chinese so you might need someone to help you navigate. Just look for the closest store new your location and call them to arrange pick up of the products. They'll bring over a price list and different value discount cards if you want to buy one.
Tofit, I also have a duck filled coat. Those should definitely be dry-cleaned. Expect to pay more than a normal jacket or coat. I forget how much it costs exactly to get it dry-cleaned. |

There are three Elephant King banches in Jing'An District where you are.
check this one out and ask for the closest one to you
#345 Jiang Ning Rd.
Tel:62552210
They come and collect the laundry. Better buy a pre-paid card to get good discounts. I have been using them and they seem to do a good job. |

I have had 2 suits ruined by Jazz at the portman, and lelphant king is a local chain that doesn't appeal to me at all,. Clothes take 4 days to come back and were all smelly. For dry cleaning, I now use the Sophia CLothes Spa people. Prices are not bad provided to use the prepaid VIP card. I called for pickup on Sunday and clothes were picked up and back by Tuesday afternoon. |

I am not sure where their shop is located. I have always just used their collection and delivery service. Normally my clothes are back the next day, very convenient for me. But I am sure if you go to their website: www.shanghai-drycleaners.com you will find an address somewhere. |

There is a great one on Urumuqi Lu/ Wuyuan Lu. Very careful/ reasonably priced and you can get a fast turn around.
Beware of all the places that tell you it has to take 3 - 5 days. They just love to say no. Offer a couple extra bucks and you can have it back the next day. |
