Post subject: Porno DVD's, certainly not in China?

Never asked, but do our friendly neighborhood DVD shops also dabble in porno DVD's? You know, purely for educational purposes of course. Do they keep them in some musty cupboard in the back, only to be opened for the degenerate minority? Or must one wander further to different locales?

Go to the dude on the street. Make a slow, deliberate show of perusing his offerings. Eventually, he'll sidle up to you and whisper "you want Sex DVD ?"

that's assuming he doesn't just have the damn things sticking out, front and center on his table. They always have 'em out, for the vendors on HongMei Lu

No, it is not legal to sell pirated DVDs.

The enforcement is just stricter on porn DVDs.

Often get invited to the "back room" (behind closed doors) to leaf through a fabulous selection of P**n DVDs in private. 8 kuai.

Is it just me ? My appearance?

Trust me, they are as common as phleghm on the sidewalk. Hock, spit, wink, wink, nudge nudge.

there is a sex shop on my block. you can see right through the open door, they have dildos and vibrators and such, so I'm pretty sure they sell porn. that are right next to a pink "foot" massage parlor, where all the masseuse's look bored and wear lingerie. Also, outside my former university, old lady's used to sell porn DVD's about a block from the main gate. However, as you know, the selling of pornography is illegal in China. Therefore, I'm sure you won't find that sort of stuff anywhere.

The DVDs in the shopping malls with the quite obvious XXX looking covers are to entice stupid laowais (like me Embarassed ). These are soft porn which are being sold under the disguise of being educational!!! I am saying "for laowais" because the wording is in Chinese so we can't figure out what they are for and take them on face value only.
Diomed, i doubt the sex shops will sell DVDs. All sorts of paraphernalia is dealt with by them but not DVDs as far as i can tell (been to a couple just for laughs).

My last apartment in Pudong had some old ladies outside the complex, selling these DVDs. What really disgusted me was the fact that they usually had their toddlers in tow. Talk about real early sex education!!!

In case anyone is worried about buying dvds here this is the reply I got from FACT (the Federation Against Copyright Theft) when I asked about the China situation....

"You do not commit an offence if you purchase for your own use. However, you are buying an inferior product that has been stolen from its owners. The film companies own the product and have paid to produce it for entertainment.

The inferior product is then portrayed as an original and the monies made go straight to the seller.

Original product movies make a percentage which goes back to the industry."
