| Post subject: Mailing Address |
Currently live in Australia and moving to Shanghai in November. At this stage we have no accommodation but will be put in temporary accommodation by the company. My problem is what do we do with our mail. I can't set up a postal re-direction as we don't have an address. I could have it sent to friends in oz and then they could forward it once we have an address but seems like a bit of a hassle for them. I have read only a little about the postal system in Shanghai. Can anyone tell me can you have a Post Office Box in Shanghai? If so where are they and what are the costs? If not how did you handle your mail during the transition period.
Really appreciate any help you can provide. |

Have it sent to your work if you can, better chance of it arriving safely. Alternatively, meaning how we do it, is to have it sent to parents house in Oz, they send anything up that is essential. We have found almost nothing really needs to come up and all payments can be done via BPay or Internet banking.
The few things we've had sent up from Sydney usually take a couple of weeks to get here, some are yet to arrive, so god only knows where they are.
Welcome to Shanghai, see you at the Blarney Stone!!

They do have the 'Post restante" (think that's how you spell it) system in Shanghai but good luck if you can find your mail. I did it once many years ago, like 10, but I had a lot of time back then.
Work address would make the most sense. |
