Post subject: (Coffee) Gathering for Young Expats

I had been to one of those Shanghaiexpat's expat coffee meeting in Starbucks and found that the people there r mostly in their thirties, forties, or late twenties for some, but saw no one at around their early twenties.

I think there r a lot of young expats like me who are interested in getting together for drinks/coffee (n maybe more after that; lunch, etc) , so I decided to organize a coffee meeting just for young expats! = )

It's similar to the weekly coffee meetings held by shexpat every sat, but it's more for younger people (17-25), such as high school/college students, university graduates, young professionals, etc. I know there r a lot of foreign students in Jiao Tong University, Fudan, and Lasalle DHU, just to name a few. It will probably be held in two weeks, or even this weekend (18-19 Sep) if there r enough people! So if ur interested in meeting new friends n having casual chat, Post messages or email me at mixedmelody@hotmail.com .

Cheers =)

Post subject: Confirmation

Great posts n replies u guys!

If everybody who says he/she is coming will really come on that day, we have enough people. But there will definitely be people who cannot make it on that day. So we may need a couple more!
And those who have replied n stated that they are coming, pls email me your contacts: email, if possible cellphone, so that i can contact u directly if there is any confirmation or changes to be made.

As for the location, what does everybody think of Xu Jia Hui Starbucks? I think it should central enough n 2 p.m. shouldn't be too early for all of those lazybones! =)

Anyone who's interested should keep posting!

Cheers

Post subject: SATURDAY 2 p.m.

Hi guys,

The young expat coffee meeting will be held in Xu Jia Hui, Mei Luo Cheng (Metro City) Starbucks on Saturday at 2p.m. . So far, I have only received email from Verspertilia, Gonkrazzy, Smileyd612, and Clark Kent. Smileyd612 and clark kent however, are not in Shanghai right now, so they will attend the next coffee meeting. Verspertilia and Gonkrazzy have given me their contacts and have confirmed to come.

If you are interested in coming on SATURDAY, send me your contacts (mobile phone no., email) to my email, at mixedmelody@hotmail.com , and i will send you a mobile phone message for confirmation. Hurry, two more days! =) Hope to see you guys.

Cheers

i personally think there's nothing wrong with locals....
good for networking eh? lol, really it seems like if you're part of this site then you should be a legitimate parson to go... but then I'm never really for exclusion of any group ...I think.

Vespertilia, Eileen, Sean, and Thomas have contacted me if not left their contacts. Bring along your friends if you want. Call me if u can't find us. I will check my mail for the last time tomorrow morning at around 9:00 am, so if u can, leave ur contacts or ask for mine so that we can find each other.

(Saturday) Tomorrow at 2 pm in starbucks, xu jia hui, mei luo cheng. See you guys!

Post subject: Nice meeting you guys!

Hi guys,
the first coffee meeting was a success! There were a lot more people that day than i initially thought there would be. I was thinkin of somewhere from 4-5, but in the end, abt 13 ppl appeared. Let's make this a weekly event. Any expat (including taiwanese, cantonese from hk) are invited! Don't let americans (all but four) dominate the meeting! =P Hehe.

Anybody interested in coming should post messages or leave me your contact info to my mail at mixedmelody@hotmail.com .

Cheers

Hi all,

I'll be able to make it this Saturday (10/2) for the meeting. Are we still on? Haven't seen any posts lately. Or did they get gipped too?

Can someone give me directions? I can take the subway to Xu Jia Hui, which exit do I take? Where to go from there?

Hey sounds so YOUNG! Very Happy Sure it would be giving me more chills than the 'standard' coffee meeting. Would like to check it out this Saturday (10/2). Vespertilia, I'm still hesitating about Ladytron. You know where to get the tickets? It's kinda a concert that one can take off her shoes on the grass... smells special to me Smile
