Post subject: satellite tv and sh exp0

I'm considering getting some sat TV set up because I really miss international channels and news aside from Chinese propaganda but I wonder if this is the best time to do it...

What impact do people here think the World Expo will have on an illegal service like this (ie. will there be crackdowns) and how will this affect Chinese people and foreigners who use such services?

According China law, If your compound has more than 70% of expat. You will have no problem to install the satellite dish. Please call me at 13901786804 if you have any question.

Wait... you ask a question then act like an ass? What's up with that. Evil or Very Mad

Stop being lazy and go to forums and read all about Satellite Service under Audio Visual.

Also, Jie is a very good provider - she hooked up my 4th box just two weeks ago.

Unfortunately some here just dont care to be told that Jie is a a very good service provider. I was lucky to meet her a few times in the last 2 years.

However I also have very good IPTV services with over 200 channels that work very well. Free testing of the system is available. But as Liverpool Manchester United game is not on Dream TV this weekend don't be rushing to ask for a test stream for that game lol

Satellite TV with a dish isnt illegal without a permit it's just that permits seem hard to come by for dishes. Not that anybody really cares.

how much we talking for this IPTV? set up cost? on going costs?

i had someone come in to look at setting up satalite, the apartment i am in already have an exsisting dish but no box etc. The prob is the dish is located off the balcony from the main bedroom, and not near the lounge which is where i wanted it set up.

The guy basically said it was gonna cost about 2k to set up with box etc. But can only watch from the bedroom, unless i get a second box of something which would cost more again.... or... run cables from the outside of the apartment into the nearest window in the lounge which means i wouldnt be able to fully close the window???

so ive been without... i really do miss watching REAL news and proper english channels.

If you have a dish was woking with Dream Satellite. All you have to do is order a box from me, I am sure you will be able to close your window. I will not charge you if it is not working. Please contact me at ruiky@public1.sta.net.cn or call me at 13901786804. Jie

OK thats good to know.... with English commentary from Sky Sports UK?

Liverpool Manchester United start at 10pm

Arsenal West Ham starts at 12:15am though not 1am so maybe you have a delayed feed.

I guess for most ardent football lovers they will go to some of the bars to watch it live and in English.

I don't think that telling off people who try to promote their service when I am just asking a simple question is "acting like an ass"-- why would I trust the information of somebody who wants me to believe certain "facts" so I can buy their product?

Still nobody has answered my original question:
"What impact do people here think the World Expo will have on an illegal service like this (ie. will there be crackdowns) and how will this affect Chinese people and foreigners who use such services?"

Nobody can say. If there is a crackdown do you expect the government to announce it?

Most people are prepared to have their dishes confiscated as they are cheap enough to replace. That has happended in the past. However if the government were to start levying fines of rmb 10,000 or then perhaps that would be more of a concern. Several downtown bars were fined large amounts for illegal dishes. I believe the largest fine was over rmb 80,000

Bigbamboo escaped fines by showing the police my IPTV streaming service. The police didnt care about the content only about an illegal dish and decoder. Bamboo showed they got it on the internet and told the police they had no dishes and so no issue.

WTC and it's weird rules.

You are jaded my dear, maybe lived too long in Asia?

It's simple as Jim said, they only care about your dish. I live in a house where no one can see the dish from the street so I believe I would have no issues with the dish. If you live in an apt building and the police can see your dish from the street then yes, it might be taken away at some point. Very cheap to replace so should not be a problem.

It's not cheap to get the real deal so you have to decide which one you want and is it really worth it? Dream will set you back about 2800 per box then the next year sub. will be about 1200. Streaming is going to be lots more money but you get so many more channels.

So are you mad that I called you an "ass" Wink

It is easy! usually the mangement will send out notice for police inspect. You call your satellite install people. They will come help you move the dish down. after the inspection, you put dish back. End of story. No fine at all!

Looking at it they also have Man City listed on Saturday when the match is on Sunday!

Who knows you could ask them they have multiple sources and as there are only 4 10pm kick off games they could show all 4 live games.

O'Malleys can also show live games, they can show at least 6 live games there as I installed more satellite equipment there recently. So there are choices out there. So OMalleys can show every live game this weekend. Speak with Kevin who does the sports schedules. Sometimes they dont list games as nobody calls to ask them can they be shown.

We do have every live game as part of our package as many people do not support Arsenal Chelsea Liverpool Manure United. Wink

One of the benefits of my IPTV service is that our customers do not need to scour for streams they know they LIVE have ALL 380 EPL games. Mr. Green

All EPL games with Sky Sports commentary.

From True Sports Thailand so add 1 hour on their schedule for local CHina time.

Birmingham Sunderland on Truesports 5. Bamboo and O'malleys both have it.

You can get the schedules from this link for the Thai satellite

I am used to paying 65 pounds (US$110) a month so I do not think that Jim's system is expensive, especially for all the content provided.

I for one did not believe I could get TV in China this way. Thanks to all those who replied to my pm"s and to Vinya for his reply
